Enjoy your travels Adrian! What a wonderful opportunity you have to be able to travel with your mother as an adult. I'm hoping my daughter will one day be so enthusiastic about traveling with me and that I am physically able when she is older. Absolutely agree with you regarding the terms "cryptoart" versus "art on the blockchain". I do not at all understand, or appreciate "crypto art", yet I cannot get enough "art on the blockchain". From a lexicological perspective, the terms are accurately descriptive, with "crypto" taking on the emphasis in "crypto art", whereas "art" is the emphasis of "art on the blockchain". Ultimately, with "cryptoart", the art is secondary to and acts as a placeholder for status or inclusion in a community. Yes, there are exceptions with some of the early artists who will forever be associated with the foundation of NFTs. However, with rare exception, almost all PFP projects are sorely lacking in artistic merit IMHO yet have valuations well beyond the majority of great art on the blockchain. So clearly, it's not the art that is driving value in cryptoart. So why is "art on the blockchain" struggling to be recognized by the IRL zeitgeist? I would argue it is precisely because it is intended to be art. In my limited knowledge of art history I cannot think of one example of any artist or art movement that did not involve a period of obscurity and struggle before achieving first collector and later cultural (zeitgeist) recognition. This period often spanned decades, so given that art on the blockchain is only a few years in its infancy, it is far too early to expect Taschen or other cultural curators to recognize the significance of this movement. And yes, you "have to do this" (regarding creating art history videos). Looking forward to pulling out my digital wallet to support and subscribe.

I get not vibing with artists who suddenly shift their subject matter to crypto related, but Crego dismissing or shaming them for it feels worse. Artists navigate different spaces for different reasons: financial, experimental, or simply because they want to. Dismissing their choices as 'losing themselves' feels more like imposing personal ideals than understanding artistic evolution. Art isn’t a fixed purity test. The way Crego use "infected" makes it sound like engaging with memes and money symbols is some kind of disease, which is a pretty harsh and unnecessary way to frame it. On a side note, Warhol used money symbols in his art. Does that mean he 'lost himself' too? I'm open for discussion.
