what makes Trent the best offensive fullback ever by a wide margin is how he allows you the build the rest of your team because he can do so much on his own. everyone talks about the crossing, and yes, he's a 20+ BCC guy, on par with world...

The reason why Nuno Mendes is the only other goat contender though in my eyes is because his offensive game is levels clear of anyone outside of Trent He can do any action in the sport. His ball carrying is one-on-one. He can cross, pass, and he can also dribble on the wing which gives you extra threat versus low blocks Obviously the defensive side of the game he's nuts at but I don't really rate individual defending in fullbacks very highly outside of situations where you have to lock down like an elite superstar winger. Defense is largely systemic especially with how diversified roles have gotten. If you have good centerbacks, if you have dual winning midfielders, if you press high defending has become a much more collective task than individual with a modern era. So yes Nuno is infinitely clear of Trent defensively but I don't weigh individual defense from fullbacks highly at all

think about a potion in a game that buffs your stats across the board for a set amount of time Trent buffs everyone's attacking value MASSIVELY, while taking some away for defense one of the most unique players ever and very underappreciated imo

Trent is absolute genius so it makes all the sense why Klopp platformed him the way he did but I do think Trent was fortunate in a sense he came from the ranks when Klopp was there because Trent fitted Klopp team’s tempo where there was so much freedom to play vertical

I think you can easily fit Trent in top teams, especially if you have retentive players around him. at the risk of being reductive, it's very similar to how Pep built around De Bruyne. you give the geniuses the license to play with risk

My argument would be that KDB was bigger goal threat and was play to in middle of the pitch whereas Trent needs to arrive in zones to operate at highest level uk like his time and Madrid and England made me think how good of playing Trent is if his frontline is static

zispoms17 天前

i mean obv KDB one of the best players ever, but Trent still very good and yeah static frontlines need more retention and rotation anyways. i think its a thing of the past though. verticality and elite off ball runs are baked into the meta of the sport

Absolutely the movement is crucial but I think even right now with Madrid, he doesn’t same personality like in pool and whenever he wants to impose himself, he will play long balls (lot of times it leads to nothing as he is facing low block)

obv every great playmaker can erratic with their actions as it’s the nature of being a playmaker but with Trent, it can be really ugly with his lack of passing variety and also not proving goal threat which limits his playing threat

Off-topic slightly, but I think there is a very real chance we don't see anything like that TAA+Robertson 19/20 season from a fullback pairing (playing in a back 4) in our lifetimes again. Klopp laced that shit with crack

Salah fell off the second he didn’t have this guy

Salah is great, but Trent raises the level of world class attackers more than any midfielder or fullback I've ever watched he literally gives you 1v1's with keepers in behind, 2v1s, 3v2s like 5-10 times a game

Only heard about his attacking side. Do we need to remind you this guy is a fullback whose job is to defend too. Or do we ignore it becausehe is shit at it Look at the goats defending even if they weren’t best either they are miles clear of trent Alves carlos mendes…

That's why they don't try the Szo Macca Grav midfield really ever since he left. Cos that midfield seriously lacks playmaking or creativity. Trent holding their hand made it work.

Alves was better in every single aspect.

How can you understand the importance of duelling in midfield and then want Bruno to keep playing in midfield. The same way Trent isn’t a midfielder is the same way Bruno isn’t. Should’ve been a rb except he can’t carry the ball or cross either.

Nkanyiso Shinga[LB]✍️🏾 A fullback that is very strong in duels✅️ ■ He is a strong boy physically, very aggressive, and times his tackles well. He is effective in winning possession back, both in 1v1 situations and by making well-timed tackles. He looks heavy, but he has some good acceleration and stamina down the left. He has a high work rate. Something our current technical team will appreciate with his game. ■ He overlaps frequently. He is comfortable in combination plays or providing more width with overlapping runs. It's his crossing I think can get better, but he is still decent. There are some good curlers from that left foot. ■ He can anticipate passing well. He is efficient in closing channels or interceptions to break up opposition attacks. He is a good reader of the game and plays with so much commitment. He creates a lot of attacking opportunities on the left. He is able to get past defenders with some speed and dribbling. Data on his crossing frequency and accuracy is not showing a lot to take home, but it's still within the range of some of our best fullbacks in the league. Also, watching his application gives some confidence that he can consistently deliver quality into the box. He is a technically decent player. His good passing abilities will be valuable in the team, both short passes to maintain possession and longer passes to switch play or find teammates in attacking positions. He gives the team multiple options defensively and offensively. ■ He likes making attacking runs on the left, but he can also invert his runs to allow the winger space to attack wide or have those 1v1 situations with opposition fullbacks. ■ The team can easily use overloads on the left, something we didn't do much last season because we often lacked attacking quality from our LBs. Kwenzokuhle Nkanyiso Shinga❤️✌🏾

🎙️ Coby White on this young Charlotte Hornets team: "I got here and I'm like the third oldest at 26. A lot of the guys are younger than me. So coming in here, they just have that youthfulness about them in terms of that pure, genuine love for the game... that's infectious." "The one thing I learned, you can't be around a guy like LaMelo Ball and not be happy. What he brings every day in terms of his joy, his spirit, you can't be around him and not be happy, joyful, because he's gonna do it every single day. He's consistent every day in terms of how he lives his life and he's just a joy to be around." "Pat Connaughton, getting to know him, his mind for the game, his IQ, his feel for the game in terms of making in-game adjustments and communicating has been huge... I can already tell it's been huge for the team." 🎙️ On Charles Lee: "He's a younger coach... just brings that youthfulness and he connects with this generation, my generation, Kon's generation, LaMelo's... he connects with us on just a different level because he's younger." "He cares about each and every player, which sometimes you don't get in this league. He takes the time to get to know every player, talks to them... being around him, he has a high IQ for the game, great feel for the game, but the most important thing is he gets each and every one of us to buy into what we're trying to do. He gets everyone to compete, but he's just a joyful spirit to be around. He connects us."

🚨 Full Remarks of President Trump on Elon Musk today: "I can't speak more highly about any individual. He's an incredible guy. He's a brilliant guy. He's a wonderful person. I've seen him with his family. I've seen him with a lot of his children. He's got a lot of children. He treats him good. He's He loves His children, but he's a brilliant guy, and he was a tremendous help, both in the campaign and in what he's done with DOGE. And you know what we're talking about, almost $200 million and rising fast, because many of the things that we were looking at are now being found out to be fact. It's terrible. I mean, the fraud, the waste, the abuse, the everything that's happened is just terrible. So I also know that he was treated very unfairly by the I guess he called the public, by some of the public, not by all of it. He makes an incredible car makes everything he does is good, but they took it out on Tesla, and I just thought it was so unfair, because he's trying to help the country, but he has helped the country. I also want him to make sure that he's going to be in great shape, and I know he is. I mean, he's going to be, he's going to do great he loves the country. He didn't need to do this. He did it, and I told him, I said, you know, whenever you're ready, I'd like to keep him for a long time, but whenever you're ready, he's an exceptional that when you see those rockets go up and come back and land in the same gantry, nobody else can do that, but this man. So he's just an incredible person, and he's a friend of mine, and he's a nice person too. He's a very nice person. He really helped the country. Saved us a lot of money. And I heard him say that he'll start easing which is always, he was always, at this time, going to ease out. And when he goes back to Tesla that will be taken care of, it was just, it's artificial. These were sick people that thought they were doing something. He really, he's a great patriot, and he should, really, it should be, it shouldn't be the way that should never have happened to him. And I will tell you right now, he makes a great product. He makes a great product. It's a great car. It's great everything. Starlink is great. What he does is good. He's doing medical things that are amazing. And we have to, at some point, let him go and do that."

🚨🎙️ DECO RESPONDS TO MBAPPÉ — AND THIS ONE WILL NOT GO DOWN WELL IN MADRID. 🎙️ Reporter: “Kylian Mbappé has basically said that he can score more goals than Raphinha and Dembélé. What do you make of that?” 🗣️ Deco: “Scoring goals is important, nobody is taking that away from Kylian. But football is not a competition where you count goals and declare yourself the best player. If that is the argument, then fine — Mbappé can score goals. But what does he bring to a team when the goals aren’t coming? Raphinha gives you intensity. Dembélé gives you creativity, pressing, unpredictability and work for the team. Lamine Yamal can control a game, create chances, beat players and make the players around him better. Mbappé is an incredible goalscorer. But being a complete footballer is something completely different. And if we’re being honest, Lamine Yamal is already miles ahead of Mbappé in terms of influence on the way his team plays. He doesn’t need to score two goals every match to dominate a game. Mbappé said he can score more than Raphinha and Dembélé. Congratulations. But football isn’t athletics. You don’t win trophies simply because one player has more goals. Look at what happened after he left Paris. He spent years trying to win the Champions League with PSG. He leaves for Real Madrid because he wants to win it there — and then PSG go on to win the Champions League after his departure, while Madrid finished the 2025–26 season without a trophy. So when Mbappé asks what he brings to a team, that’s exactly the question people should be asking him too. He can score. Absolutely. But can he control a match? Can he make everyone around him better? Can he dictate the rhythm? Can he consistently defend and press? Can he make his team function when he isn’t scoring? Those are the questions that separate a great goalscorer from a complete footballer. For me, Mbappé is nowhere near the complete player people have tried to make him out to be. And if he thinks scoring more goals automatically makes him better than Dembélé, Raphinha or Yamal, then he has completely misunderstood what football is about.
