@realDonaldTrump The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was a law passed in 1930 that raised import duties on foreign goods. The law was intended to protect American farmers and businesses, but it contributed to the economic strain of the Great Depression.

I would expect to see tariffs to the CCP outstrip all the others. Further to that, the direction of travel is low barriers to allies who genuinely value free trade, higher to hostile states. A sort of informal European Community, without the political lock-in. A western trading area, if you like.
