Exactly. I want at least 45 seconds in between every pitch. Put MORE graphics up between one pitch and the next, let the hitters have DIALOGUE with the umpire

Thank you for this. The players will adjust and fans ultimately will love the pace. We are removing breading from the crab cake and keeping all the crab.

We need that time between pitches to sip beer and wonder what we’re doing with our lives

15 is way to quick . Maybe between 20-30 seconds is the move

that wouldnt be a change from where the game is at lol

30 seconds wouldn’t?!? That seems pretty fair to the players and pitchers.

These long games are a new tradition. MLB had to do something.

Yes… quite literally yes. Every single year more strategy has been taken out of baseball and that’s literally never a good thing

Old head Baseball fans are insufferable. The game needs to change. There is no denying that

If Twitter was around in 1954, these same people would be complaining that the NBA put in a shot clock. Sports and society evolve. This is good for the growth of the game. Pitchers and hitters will adjust and we will get a sharper and more fun game as a result.

To me, the clock is nothing more than a training mechanism. It’s not that games will be decided by it, it’s that it’s training pitchers and hitters be quicker.

In football a team has 40 seconds to sub, call a play, get set, and go. After a big collision. Mlb players can figure it out and it’ll be better for the game

No just a happy medium. Don’t want games decided by a clock

If you want to add a clock to speed up the 5-10% of the league that are human rain delays that’s fine. But with what’s going on right now in spring games is too far imo. 2.5 hour games is too short and takes away a lot of the nuance that makes the game great in the first place

@TalkinBaseball_ They’re speeding up the game for that new audience they’re trying to attract that’s NEVER gonna watch baseball. EVER!! Leave the game alone!!

I love it. If you are a older fan and watched games in the 60s,70s,& 80s, you appreciate the clock. The players have almost made games unwatchable with all the standing around. If games are too short for you, stay 30 minutes after the game & watch what we are watching in games now

Guys are all missing the point. “Shorter games” isn’t exactly what is needed. Commish doesn’t get it either. If it’s four hours of good paced, action, then that’s great. I don’t want 3 hours of nutsack adjustments and stepping off the mound.

Profilbild von Sam Malone

I haven’t seen anybody mention it, but I may have missed it. Is there time between pitches to show a replay of the last pitch anymore? Not saying it’s a dealbreaker, but it does flow well with the drama of the at bat to see the previous pitch if it’s a good one.

Baseball definitely needed to speed the game up this is awful the new rules are gonna be so much better for the game

@TalkinBaseball_ Saw a spring training game live and it was great. Really enjoyed the pace of pace of play and it kept my wife more engaged too!

People just want to assert themselves as “real baseball fans” so they automatically hate any change. Sure I don’t think there was anything wrong, but I will happily admit the faster pace is pretty cool so far

Honestly, this doesn’t bother me. Can’t turn baseball into basketball where you blink and the game is over. If MLB is so damn worried about their sport’s future, get more programs into inner cities. Y’all act like games last 6 hours.

Those are all late inning, mostly close games and mostly 2 strike counts. Yes, we want a little bit of drama, a little bit of tension there… is that too much to ask for?

Think back to the greatest baseball game you ever watched. Now Google the box score. How long did that game take ?

Between the baserunner knowing exactly WHEN the pitcher is going to throw the pitch ( thank you stupid timeclock ) and making the bags 3 inches larger....Someone is going to break the all-time stolen bases in a season record. BANK IT> !

It’s the longer breaks between innings and pitching changes so they can accommodate more commercials. That’s what is making games longer.

I am marveling at all the angst over MLB trying to turn the game back into a sport played by athletes. The new way is better.

Back in the day pitchers and batters didnt go through rituals after every single pitch. Games were 2 hours or less. Speeding the game up is actually making it like it was

Profilbild von Lucas Ingham

That would be correct. These guys are annoying but they are the outlier, and it’s just part of the sport. 72% of pitchers had a sub 20 second pitch tempo last season .
