Georgi Dobrovolski, Vladislav Volkov and Viktor Patsayev were not wearing pressure suits when explosive bolts jarred open a Soyuz 11 equalisation valve after they undocked from Salyut 1 on 29 June 1971, and the cabin air escaped into vacuum in less than a minute.

The scariest part isn't even the vacuum—it's that your body heat wouldn't be able to escape normally because there's no air to conduct it away. You'd literally bake from your own internal metabolism before freezing!

Definitely not the kind of space exploration anyone signs up for! A vivid reminder of why spacesuits are essential. @Rainmaker1973 #SpaceScience #Astronomy #Cosmos #ScienceFacts

ALWAYS wear your spacesuit when going outside on the Moon. NO EXCEPTIONS.

I keep remembering what happened and grinning all over again. There is absolutely no hiding my mood.
