Reckless Driver Arrested After Eluding Police Across Redmond; Drone Program Helps Track Vehicle Officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the early morning hours of April 23 after noticing it had no license plates. The driver accelerated well above the posted speed limit and failed to stop, ignoring emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle continued through Redmond, running red lights, making dangerous turns, and driving at high speeds. At one point, the driver returned toward an officer, flashing high beams in an apparent attempt to provoke a pursuit, and drove into oncoming traffic. Due to the reckless behavior and risk to the public, officers did not engage in a pursuit. Multiple drones were deployed remotely from docking locations throughout the city by a single Drone as First Responder (DFR) pilot, allowing officers to maintain continuous visual contact with the vehicle as it drove recklessly across Redmond. With assistance from aerial support, officers tracked the vehicle as it continued driving dangerously through the area, including SR-520 and downtown Redmond. Spike strips were successfully deployed, and the vehicle was later located at an apartment complex. Officers conducted a high-risk stop, and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The individual was arrested for eluding a police vehicle and further investigated for DUI. The driver was under the legal drinking age, and an open alcoholic beverage was found inside the vehicle. The individual was also driving with a suspended license. This type of reckless driving puts everyone at risk. Thank you to assisting units for their coordinated response.

The driver repeatedly attempted to break free by reversing and then accelerating forward. However, the Grappler held firm, and the vehicle’s rear axle was ripped off -- permanently disabling the car. The driver and two passengers were all arrested and taken into custody without further incident.

RIGHT TO JAIL! Around 8:30 p.m. last night, a stolen vehicle was detected near Lake Mead and Hollywood through our License Plate Reader (LPR) technology. Officers moved in to conduct a felony vehicle stop, but the driver took off, driving dangerously and weaving into oncoming traffic. There was no pursuit, however, the driver continued driving dangerously and eventually crashed into another vehicle near Linn Lane and Lake Mead Blvd. The person in that vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but thankfully, there were no serious injuries. The driver ran into a nearby backyard, but LVMPD's AIR5 guided officers to his location. He surrendered and was taken into custody. Last night, the driver of a BMW using a tag assigned to a Nissan took off from an attempted traffic stop in the Daytona Beach area. The driver, later identified as Jason Therrien, 39, Holly Hill, was driving recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic, driving on the wrong side of the road, running red lights, and hitting 40 mph over the speed limit in residential areas. Holly Hill PD attempted a traffic stop and the Daytona Beach Police Department deployed stop sticks, which Therrien hit but kept fleeing. A VSO deputy deployed a second set of stop sticks, which Therrien hit again, and kept fleeing. His tires deteriorated but he continued speeding around blind turns in the wrong lane. At the intersection of Old Dixie Highway and Walter Boardman Lane, Therrien lost control and ran off the road, crashing into a deputy's patrol vehicle, which was parked stationary with emergency lights on. Deputies then took Therrien into custody. He is charged with aggravated reckless fleeing (3 counts), possession of crack cocaine, fentanyl, cannabis and paraphernalia, and driving an unregistered vehicle. He is in the Volusia County Branch Jail at this time with no bond.

The driver initially presented an international driving permit before eventually producing his Florida driver's license. As the stop continued, he repeatedly questioned the deputy's authority, refused multiple commands to exit the rental SUV, and argued that officers needed a warrant. The encounter escalated into a brief struggle as the deputy attempted to detain him, leading to his arrest on a charge of Resisting an Officer Without Violence. Yesterday (4/22/26), deputies and FHP Orlando troopers responded to multiple reports of hit-and-run crashes involving a reckless driver on I-4, starting in Seminole County. Witnesses reported the suspect vehicle hit a guardrail, lost a front wheel and continued driving, exiting I-4 and getting stuck at a construction site off Shell Road in DeBary. Deputies detained the driver, Eric Drewry (DOB 8/28/1978), who appeared to be under the influence. He resisted and kicked a deputy while being escorted into the back of a patrol vehicle. While being questioned by a trooper about the crash, Drewry responded "What crash?" While being transported to the hospital Drewry asked deputies multiple times to be released in exchange for $2,000. Instead, he was charged with resisting and battery on law enforcement by VSO, and DUI, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, and refusal to submit to DUI testing (subsequent offense) by FHP.

Due to the median barrier, the deputy was unable to get behind the car but observed the driver swerving through oncoming traffic. Another deputy was quickly dispatched to the area and intercepted the wrong-way driver. During the initial traffic stop, the driver appeared to try to evade the deputy. The driver then conducted a U-turn to face the correct direction on E-470 and pulled onto the right shoulder. The driver was arrested on the following charges: •Reckless Endangerment (M2) •Driving Under the Influence (DUI) (M) •Driving on the Wrong Side of a Divided Highway (TIA) •Driving While License Under Restraint/Suspended (TIA) Excellent observation and quick coordination by our deputies helped prevent what could have resulted in serious injury or worse to other motorists.

Our deputies recently received a Flock hit on a stolen Chevy Silverado in the Evergreen area. The driver attempted to evade deputies by using side streets and back roads, but with the help of some well-placed stop sticks, we were able to slow the vehicle down after disabling multiple tires. A JSCO sergeant used the Grappler Police Bumper to safely bring the vehicle to a stop near Morrison Rd. and C-470. The driver made one last attempt to flee on foot, which also didn’t work. The suspect was eventually tased and taken into custody. The individual had an active warrant, was driving under restraint, and now faces charges for vehicular eluding, resisting arrest, aggravated motor vehicle theft, careless driving, and possession of a controlled substance. Great teamwork by all involved. It’s what we do.

The driver fled and began driving the wrong way southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 65. Troopers discontinued the pursuit due to safety concerns. The driver later corrected, and Anoka County deputies re-engaged the pursuit in Blaine. Authorities say the driver again drove the wrong way on Highway 65, continuing onto County Rd. 10 and then Interstate 694 before exiting onto Lexington Ave. in Shoreview, where Ramsey County deputies took over. The pursuit continued south on Lexington Ave. N. to Highway 36, then west to Interstate 35W into Minneapolis. Deputies successfully deployed stop sticks, but the driver continued at a high rate of speed and the pursuit was again called off. The vehicle exited into downtown Minneapolis, where dispatchers lost visual tracking through traffic cameras. Officers are searching the area for the driver, and the State Patrol airplane will be overhead to assist shortly.
