๐Ÿ˜ฎ What surprised me talking to ansgar.eth: he openly admits ETH still has no clear value story after five years of being unable to break $5,000. Ethlabs' whole pitch is bringing intentionality to what ETH is actually for. ๐Ÿ™Œ Timestamps: ๐Ÿ›๏ธ 01:26 Why the Ethereum Foundation is stepping back...

Most critics think Ethereum is getting cannibalized by L2s. But the founders of Ethlabs believe Ethereum is quietly positioning itself to become the root of the global economy. Fast confirmation rules are set to slash transfer friction by 98%, L2s are onboarding tens of millions of real-world users, and L1 is cementing its position as the primary economic settlement hub. If you do anything today, please listen to this 3-min clip on what Co-CEO Joseph Chalom refers to as The ETH Opportunity... FYI, Joe is the former Head of Digital Assets Strategy at BlackRock, who drove the creation of IBIT, ETHA, and BUIDL. "The more assets and transactions that are secured on the Ethereum network, have been proven to increase the value of ETH..." "If you look at the last 5 years, for each $2 secured on the network, on Ethereum and the L2s, it's driven about $1 of market cap value of Ethereum [ETH]..." "And if you take a step back and say stablecoins are at this size today, but Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says it's gonna grow to a trillion over the next 3 years, if you look at the adoption of RWAs, which is in the first inning and can literally go j-curve, the value of tokenized assets which could be measured in the trillions or tens of trillions... they are gonna be secured by a decentralized network. We believe the vast majority is gonna be Ethereum. That is a bull case for ETH..." "If more assets are secured on the Ethereum network, the value of ETH will go up, and the value of it being a trust commodity, the highest value of money, is gonna be critically important if you believe we are at a paradigm shift, and that's what I call the ETH opportunity. It's not a trade, it's an ETH opportunity." "And for all of those who feel like they missed the early days of crypto, you are at still a very early entry point in the adoption of Ethereum and that is the long term ETH opportunity, not the ETH trade." EthLabs Co-founder Ansgar Dietrichs on why Ethereum must be the central node of the on-chain global economy โ€œWhen we say the global economy is coming on-chain, I believe there are two very different ways that can play out. What I see as the default is you have this world of all these different, independent chains [with different use cases] and then you tie them all together with brittle links. Over time you try to derisk these links, but weโ€™ve seen this multiple times in the past โ€” bridges keep failing. Bridges between independent chains can only ever be so secure/robust because ultimately these chains donโ€™t have a shared state.โ€ Ansgar continues: โ€œThe alternative outcome is one where the global economy has one central node โ€” that doesnโ€™t mean that all the activity is on that node or Ethereum L1, but it means that thereโ€™s one central node that everything links back into. We are in a fundamentally better state for the world, when all these different parts of the economy can talk to each other trustlessly and without friction. And we really believe that itโ€™s only Ethereum that can play that role. There is no second-best, neutral chain that actually has a shot at this. But that doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s inevitable. We could just end up in the worse world.โ€ This is why EthLabs is focused on, as Ansgar puts it, โ€œtalking to the builders in Ethereum, figuring out what are the friction points โ€” especially as we build toward bringing finance and these economic flows on-chain โ€” and iteratively removing them and strengthening Ethereum.โ€
