Idk I think there is a difference between using an item offensively and slowing down to hit someone that poses 0 threat to you and doesnt actually benefit you whatsoever. Its not like they got rid of something like triple reds or gained any spots for it.

judging by the way he was driving afterwards im pretty sure he was just trying to hit as many as he could. i mean in an objective sense him getting you out there is one less potential threat.
