This is heart wrenching to see kids have to go through this so young, but I don’t think lying to them is the answer. At some point they will learn the truth & then realize all of these memories weren’t real (lying is never justified imo, not even when taking care of dementia patients)

My personal opinion doesn’t matter. But here it is anyways… I would absolutely not do this in her situation. I know kids are sensitive, but when it comes to stuff like this, I’d never give them false hope. I personally think this does more damage than anything…

I really don’t understand some of the negative comments. When you marry, you become one group basically in the family. Would the dad give gifts if he was here, of course! The meaning is deeper than trying to trick her children as if dad was still present physically and giving the gifts. It’s Spiritual. It’s never allowing her kids to feel their daddy’s spirit isn’t present in their lives. It is showing them they can always still talk to him anytime. I still talk to my parents and I know they’re not physically here, but sometimes I just feel their presence. I would only hope that should I leave this world that my wife would think or know that I was a good enough man to deserve her efforts to honor my life to my young kids! Maybe the question should be, is the love and sacrifice you give to your children so noticeable that your spouse would honor you with a special jester to assure you are never forgotten?

They are going to be disappointed some day. Santa Claus is one thing, but your deceased daddy?

Poor kids. Thank God they have a good mom who's going to make sure her kids know their dad, alive or not. Sad and beautiful at the same time.

I had 27 years with my dad and I feel robbed. My heart truly goes out to these kids or anyone who’s lost a parent at such a young age.

This is disgusting! What happens to these children when they find out it was all a lie? It's one thing to find out that Santa Claus gifts weren't real, but to find out your dead Father didn't actually send the gifts will be traumatizing. They are going to feel betrayed. This is not wholesome. This is abuse.
