What was Kojima Productions smoking while making DS2 bro, this opening sequence in death stranding 2 they just showed on stream actually has me wondering if some scenes are actually live action footage

DS1 used edited photos of real locations, I wonder if they seamlessly spliced together drone footage and in-engine assets? It is genuinely impressive that I can't tell what % is real, if any.

Yeah! was thinking it could even be like, actual footage with VFX on top but like, damn, its all so seamless

These opening shots are absolutely real life footage. They even said in the showcase that the "...game starts here" in reference to the actual gameplay being shown when Sam and Lou are on top of the mountain.

i think its real footage they did the same thing with ds1 opening

This time they definitely added in vfx elements into them too, its so seamless from the actual in engine shots you can see
