I personally saw it as glinda wanting control. Its supposed to be her private suite and now she has someone staying with her. She wasnt prepared for someone to ask why so she came ip with a random reason

im surprised cuz i understood this scene completely differently, i thought the point of the open window was for glinda to show off to the students below lol. especially since she got the most fancy room iirc? and its in character for her.

i thought of it as glinda not wanting to show people her roomate was the “freak” of the school and try to hide her like the other teacher said that’s why she covered the windows in elphaba’s half of the room she doesn’t want anyone to see she’s sharing with her
