I was wondering if the joke of her pointing in different directions to the beach is that it’s an island so any direction is to the beach or she doesn’t care and just points anywhere.

I think she just doesn't care and is sending them wherever lol

Lilo taking photos of tourists at the start of the movie hits so differently when you realise that they've 100% done the same thing to her at some point.

Such a shame too, this scene would’ve just added more to both Lilo’s character and the whole atmosphere of the film’s world It sucks that even back then Disney was allergic to addressing how awful tourists (especially US ones) can be towards people they’ve never met
