Dangote Refinery is trending because, Aliko Dangote's refinery has started selling Petrol to the public. But, NNPC will be the exclusive buyers. - Monopoly achieved ? The Vice President of Dangote Refinery hinted that should any sabotage arise, and no one buys from them, they will not hesitate to export out of Nigeria, just how they export their diesel and jet fuel. This is was yesterday, when the refinery was yet to reach an agreement with NNPCL. But, now NNPC have reached an agreement with Dangote to supply him crude in Naira. And this month the refinery will supply them 25million litres of fuel, and 30million next month. The refinery is expected to produce 650k barrels per day. But NNPC failed to provide them enough crude oil, which resulted to the delay in commencement of their operation. NNPC being exclusive buyers means that, they will reach an agreement with Dangote prompting them to only purchase PMS from Dangote for an agreed period of time. And, understanding that NNPC is in serious international debt with no international supplier willing to supply them Petrol. - One can arguably say that Dangote has gotten what he wanted, and is on course to secure Oil Monopoly. Recall that in July NNPC accused Dangote of seeking oil monopoly with poor fuel quality. Which frustrated him to to opt out of building a steel plant and suggesting that Dangote Refinery was up for sale. This morning Aliko Dangote used the opportunity to show Nigerians that the real color of quality fuel is "colorless", like water. And he assured Nigerians that, this is what they will be getting from his refinery, unlike the bad product that has been circulating the country for nearly three decades. Assuring Nigerians that their vechicles will last longer, and the environment will be safer. Dangote refinery will be the first refinery to work in Nigeria since 1996. Yet, Nigerians are saying it's not enough. That to properly combat the now natural fuel shortage, FG should allow independent suppliers to give NNPC competition.

I never knew what I was getting into. I even said that if I have anyone but prayer for my enemy, it is to pray for my enemy to go and start building a refinery. So now that fear has actually gone. Kenya's refinery is part of our Vision 2030, and we will double the refinery in Nigeria to 1.4 million barrels per day. - Aliko Dangote

And Tanzania, we have offered Tanzania to also be a part owner of this refinery. So the technical teams who have agreed they are going to look at where it's best suited and wherever it's best suited we'll do that refinery."

The price of fuel is heading towards N2000, and we know this was caused by the war going on between the USA, Israel, and Iran. Whenever the crude oil price goes much more than the protected benchmark in our budget, what happens is that it leads to excess funds for the government. So, let the government take that excess fund that was never budgeted for and use at least 60% to subsidise the crude being supplied to Dangote Refinery. When that is done, the cost of the feedstock to Dangote Refinery will reduce, and this will result in the gantry price of petrol reducing. ~ TUC President Festus Osifo urges the federal government

Unfortunately, Atiku Abubakar is using economic populism to take the country backward. If you go back to subsidy, you are going to hit the oil and gas sector really hard and in a negative manner. Your Dangote Refinery IPO doesn’t happen, the Dangote Refinery operation will not happen, and no investor is going to invest in the refinery - Arise News’s Rotus Oddiri

I Don't See the Significant Impact Dangote Refinery Will Have on Petrol Price - Oluwafemi As much as Dangote Refinery has been met with so much positivity regarding supply, it's sad that NNPCL who use to run four refinaries in Nigeria, is queuing to lift PMS from a private Refinery. The back and forth we have witnessed in the past week is symbolic of how powerful commodity traders are globally, and the Dangote refinery will, unfortunately be no different Akinbode Oluwafemi Director, Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA)

DANGOTE EAST AFRICA REFINERY: This post is for archives. It will be useful soon when the dust settles. Anyone who knows this government knows one thing, every popular project and program is usually the most vulnerable to Patronage. They always know you can always get away with anything and attack those who ask credible questions as “wale hawataki tujenge this or that”. We are all in support of Foreign Direct Investments and especially from our African investors like Dangote. The questions and responsibilities is on the Government of Kenya who must not blubber but just make everything public. 1. We asked about the shareholders of the Kenyan subsidiary of Dangote refinery - Dangote East African Refinery. The response from the President was lengthy but didn’t provide such a simple request. Who are the shareholders of the Kenyan Subsidiary of Dangote East African Refinery? Simple. No anger, no explanation. Just the shareholders list. 2. How much land are we ceding to Dangote refinery? Is the value being converted to Equity or shareholding? What is the value? 3. How much has Kenya committed to invest directly into Dangote East Africa Refinery? Is there premium in the amount? 4. In the Lagos Refinery, the company had to build their own infrastructure including a Port and roads. Will the investment done by the previous governments in regard to Port and all count for anything? How much? 5. Is there any agreement committing Kenya into off take of the refined products? At what cost? As I type this, Nigeria where Dangote Cement is dominant has the highest retail prices of Cement in Africa. This is based of policies and agreements like the ones we must now make public. If the government cannot provide these details, we will do so on their behalf. We are not asking these questions because we don’t know the details, we are only giving them a chance to do what a responsible government should do. We are African and Africa is our Business..

Now that Dangote has opted for Kenya for his refinery and not Tanga, now watch this script predicted a few days ago by this gentleman unravel. Wantam, activists about to go to work! “If for some reason the President met Aliko Dangote and they agreed in Changamwe will be a refinery that will be producing 400 to 500 barrels of refined oil per day, the first thing you’ll realize is a Senator claiming that he has received documents from Nigeria that are privy to him that there is a deal where President Ruto has a stake in the refinery in Changamwe. The next day there’ll be a lawyer in glasses whose degree we can’t verify in court in Kerugoya asking for a court order to bar that investment because there was no public participation and that way, they will have a preliminary order stopping that investment pending hearing.”

Atiku will introduce production subsidy. If you don't have a refinery in Nigeria, you will not get subsidy. Government will not pay for the subsidy. All the government will do is to make a policy. The price at which I sell crude on the international market will be different from the Nigerian market. We will do domestic pricing. If I sell crude at N15,000 on the international market, in Nigeria, I will sell to Dangote at N10,000. The difference will be N5,000. I will then sit with Dangote and tell him to give me a subsidy of N5,000. Once that happens, the price of fuel will come down. - ADC Vice Presidential Candidate Rotimi Amaechi spoke today at the ADC Townhall meeting in Edo State.
