SEDC Can Transform South East to Become Africa's Preferred Investment Destination - Okoye The South East Development Commission represents the aspirations of about 50 million Igbos globally and 21 million Igbo residents in the region. This Commission's history dates back to the '3Rs' post-civil war reconstruction. Simply put, we see this as our own federal platform, a long-term development agenda working with the states. We're focusing on 4 major areas to drive the region's economy from $40bn to $200bn in 10 years. We will also work with governors to develop ports and rail connections and make the project investable for potential investors Mark Okoye, Founding MD/CEO, South East Development Commission

The first of 15 agro-mechanisation projects planned by the South East Development Commission, SEDC, across the region’s senatorial zones, is set for flag-off in Enugu. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the SEDC, Mark Okoye, disclosed this during a site inspection and community engagement at Nomeh Unateze in Nkanu East Local Government Area. Okoye said the commission spent its first year conducting extensive studies and developing plans across key sectors of the South East economy before arriving at the agro-mechanisation initiative. According to him, the project is designed to help tackle insecurity and unemployment, while strengthening food production and food security across the region. The SEDC boss also commended President Bola Tinubu for establishing the commission in 2024, describing it as a response to the South East’s longstanding demand for a dedicated institution to mobilise resources and coordinate development in the region. Meanwhile, community leaders in Nomeh Unateze expressed support for the project and commended the federal and state governments for siting the initiative in the community. The Chairman of the Nomeh Unateze Town Union Caretaker Committee, Dr. Chukwudi Anyianuka, alongside representatives of the traditional institution and other stakeholders, also praised the SEDC management for what they described as a more research-driven approach to regional development. They said the commission’s decision to study the peculiar challenges of the South East before developing its interventions could help reduce waste and improve the impact of development projects across the region.

Senator Kalu: How much is left of the N16.6 billion you received from the 2025 budget? South East Development Commission (SEDC) Managing Director, Mark Okoye: We have N11 billion. Senator Kalu: You have N13 billion. I've spoken to the CBN. You're dealing with government officials. I'm disappointed in you, and this committee is disappointed. SEDC MD Mark Okoye: But I informed you last Friday, and you said I must come. I have evidence. Senator Kalu: Listen to me, you have one little office in Abuja where you pay 153 million. One room office! This committee knows.

I'm almost certain that Mark Okoye will succeed as MD of SEDC Ndigbo will look back and bless the day he was appointed It takes time to plan in a region where people are use to doing anything they like Where people really don't understand the indices to measure true development Mark is outstanding and we will continue to support him until Jesus comes

We don’t wait for the stars to align—We code the alignment. The South East Vision 2050 is the first step towards building our collective future. When Abia’s manufacturing muscle meets Anambra’s export engine; Ebonyi’s agricultural backbone connects to Enugu’s tech future; and Imo’s human capital fuels the whole regional machine, THEN, we achieve sustainable prosperity. One region. One market. One vision. South East Nigeria: We Are Active!💯 #SEV2050 #SEDC #RebuildingLegacy #RenewedHope #OneRegionOneMarket

2027: South East Standing On The Mandate of Tinubu - Onwaebonyi The entire South East is solidly behind President Tinubu's aspirations for 2027. APC is the only party that can win elections in the South East in 2027. Previously, when the people from the South East supported PDP, they were rewarded with token political appointments and no infrastructural development. Today, under the Tinubu administration, massive infrastructural development has come to the region, along with major political appointments. Sen. Onyekachi Onwaebonyi, Federal Lawmaker Representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
