Dad needs to step in much earlier than his son’s twenties. Dad needs to step in and begin removing the bumpers during adolescence. Adolescence is when people become adults. They are already adults in their twenties, and it is too late. That is what is happening now, sons are stepping into adulthood without knowing how to read a life’s compass to guide them, because dads didn’t step and let them learn how find themselves after getting lost as teens.

100%. Age 7+ the dad has to be there more.

As a mother of 6, 3 of whom are boys (ages 16, 14, and 5), I can state that a mother who isn’t pushing her son to get out there and excel hasn’t matured in her parenting. A mother who ONLY protects is a dysfunctional mother. Even mother birds force the babies to leave the nest.
