Why is it only Christians and Western people expected to show absolutely no favouritism for their own culture? Muslim countries are allowed to be Muslim. They have the Shahada on their flag. America is 70% Christian. Western law, morality, and the legal system are built on it. Putting the Ten Commandments in schools isn't forcing religion on anyone. Freedom of religion is not freedom from religion.

I’ve lived in Saudi Arabia for two years. I’ve deployed to Iraq. I have seen firsthand what it looks like to live in countries governed under systems like Sharia law. Let me be very clear: Sharia law has no place in the United States of America, and it certainly has no place in the great state of Texas. I will fight tooth-and-nail to make sure our laws always reflect our Constitution. I believe in free expression of religion, but we also have one Constitution, one set of laws, and one American culture rooted in freedom. If someone comes to this country legally and embraces that, I welcome them as my fellow American. But if someone thinks they’re going to come here, refuse to assimilate, undermine our culture, attack our freedoms, or import foreign legal systems, that is not going to happen in Texas. Not on my watch.
