“You can see the surface of the Moon…we just went sci-fi.” On flight day seven, images from our NASA Artemis II crew amazed, turning science fiction to reality. From the lunar far side to a solar eclipse from the Moon, the views are EVERYTHING. No pressure to pick a favorite.

Endeavoring for not just one, but TWO Moon landings in 2028. Coming weeks: Artemis II around the Moon Mid-2027: Artemis III rendezvousing with one or both HLS providers, testing space suits in low Earth orbit Early 2028: Artemis IV lunar landing Late 2028: Artemis V lunar landing, beginning work on lunar base This is how we get back to the Moon with urgency, to stay.

The next chapter of Artemis is about acceleration. • Building the Moon base • Landers at the lunar south pole on a monthly cadence starting in 2027 • Nuclear power & propulsion • More science and discovery First we clear the barriers inside NASA. Then we move.

POV: You’re riding shotgun on the Moon. The Lunar Roving Vehicle transformed Apollo surface exploration. Now we’re bringing that legacy of lunar mobility to the Moon’s South Pole region. New lunar terrain vehicles being developed by Astrolab and Lunar Outpost will put even more of the Moon within reach, helping NASA Artemis astronauts travel farther and explore longer as we lay the groundwork for humanity’s first Moon Base.

The race to the Moon is about far more than planting a flag. The lunar south pole will be strategically important for decades to come, and America intends to take lead.

The near impossible is becoming possible. We are building toward a sustained human presence at the lunar South Pole. It begins with Phase 1: CLPS landers and LTV rovers testing the “science of survival” on the lunar surface before heavy HLS cargo landers deliver the mass and infrastructure needed for an enduring presence. We are building the Moon Base for all we will learn, the innovation that will improve life on Earth, the inspiration for the next generation of explorers, and to master the skills needed for where we will inevitably go next...Mars. The Golden Age of lunar exploration has begun.
