Whatever one thinks about Trump’s intervention in Iran, the fact is it has cruelly exposed the vulnerability of our national defences. But that warning is a blessing that we must be grateful for. We MUST act now to rebuild our armed forces and defence infrastructure. The next lesson we receive could well be much harsher. History is full of examples of nations who didn’t heed the warnings of looming danger. I hope that Reform’s decision to commit to the triple lock doesn’t signal a further dive into the consumer politics that has consistently treated national defence as a secondary priority.

PM Starmer: We must build our hard power because that is the currency of the age. We must be able to deter aggression. And yes, if necessary, we must be ready to fight. To do whatever it takes to protect our people, our values and our way of life. It is true that Russia has made a huge strategic blunder in Ukraine, and that Russian casualties number well over a million. But even as the war continues, Russia is rearming and reconstituting its armed forces and industrial base. Even in the event of a peace deal in Ukraine—which we are all working hard to achieve—Russia’s rearmament would likely only accelerate. The wider danger to Europe would not end there; it would increase. So we must respond to this threat in full.

Secretary Marco Rubio receives a standing ovation after calling on Europe to be proud of its heritage and history. “We want to do it together with you…” “With a Europe that is proud of its heritage and of its history, with a Europe that that has the spirit of creation and liberty that sent ships out into uncharted seas and birthed our civilization.” “With a Europe that has the means to defend itself and the will to survive. We should be proud of what we achieved together in the last century.” “But now we must confront and embrace the opportunities of a new one. Because yesterday is over.” “The future is inevitable and our destiny together awaits.”

True when I said it, true today. “Canada is, and always has been, our country. And we want Canada to be a True North that is as strong and as free as it can be in every way that matters: the best country in the world. That’s why we’re here, that’s why we strive, that’s why we serve. Canada must reflect the true character of the Canadian people: honourable in our dealings, faithful to our commitments, loyal to our friends. By turns, a courageous warrior and a compassionate neighbour. It is our purpose that Canada must be great, it must be great for all Canadians, it must be a country of hope and an example to the world. And only when it is these things, when Canada is all that it can be, only then can we say that our work is done.”

Labor cannot be trusted with our national security. We have sitting Labor MPs calling for AUKUS to be scrapped, and now we have a former Labor minister (now a musician!) heading up an inquiry into the whole thing, backed by multiple sitting MPs. The Labor Government claims to still support the AUKUS submarine deal, but the only thing that is certain is that the whole issue has triggered chaos and division within the Labor Party. The irony is that, in the last few days, the Labor Defence Minister claimed that raising concerns about mass migration and integration was harmful to our national security. The reality is that one of the biggest threats to our national security is this chaotic and failing Labor Government.

Hey there, folks. About to go for a run here in Connecticut, and I realized today is the National Day of Prayer. I just want to say how glorious it is that we live in a country with a National Day of Prayer. It’s on our coins: “In God We Trust.” We have to understand that faith in the God of the Bible is central to who we are as a nation. It always has been. I write about that in the book Revolution. Next weekend, on May 17th, we are publicly rededicating the nation to God. I’ll be there, and I hope you will too. On this National Day of Prayer, take a moment to thank God that we live in a nation that acknowledges Him in this way. God bless you, and God bless America.

Absolutely frightening. The Prime Minister of the nation that produced John Stuart Mill, Adam Smith and George Orwell now wants a “National Centre for Information Defence.” That is just another name for a Ministry of Truth. Never in our history has freedom of speech faced an assault from globalist elites like the one unfolding today. We must learn the lesson of the Covid years: “misinformation” became a weaponised label for any view that challenged the official narrative. Much of what was later proven true was censored. Life-saving facts were branded false and buried. We need to recover John F. Kennedy’s vision: "We welcome the views of others. We seek a free flow of information across national boundaries and oceans, across iron curtains and stone walls. We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.” Australia must entrench freedom of speech in our Constitution — as America has done — and reject the globalist project of Big Brother censorship. That is why every Australian who understands that liberty depends on the right to speak must support One Nation at the next election. One Nation has committed to a referendum so the people themselves can decide whether freedom of speech belongs in the Constitution. That’s why I’m supporting One Nation.

This is the most true statement that’s ever been spoken Conor McGregor “I am of the belief that the era of the politician must end. It must come to an end.” “It has proven unfruitful, and that is clear as day by the statistics and by what we see around us. It is straight chancery and our appointed ministers have no history in the roles that they are appointed to - Our Minister of Finance has no history in accounting - Our Minister of Health has no history in the health industry - Our Minister of Education was never a schoolteacher — It is straight chancery we are dealing with. The era of the politician must end.”

We have a problem in our society that we must come to grips with. We have members of our society who celebrate an assassination, and we need a dramatic course correction. Anyone who mocks the murder of an innocent father goes beyond the bounds of what is humane, and it must end. We as a society, we as a state, must send a signal that celebrating the assassination of a free speech advocate is wrong in a civil society.

The world we’re living in is becoming increasingly uncertain, and concerns about China are growing, yet Labor chooses this moment to cut our defence budget by $800 million. We get a vague commitment from them that they plan to build a bigger defence force from the 2030s onwards. We just have to hope that, for the good of our national security, this Labor Government is long gone by then! As Pauline says, we need to get serious. The time has come to start backing defence.

Our armed forces are poorly paid. They are denied the equipment, the stores, the back-up and the training that they know are vital to the job they do. Worse, they see the anti-Western wing of the Labour Party calling for still more gigantic cuts in defence, which a former Labour Defence Secretary said would mean at best 'neutrality', at worst 'surrender'. We have a government that neglects our defences. A government that lets down NATO so badly that our allies have rebuked it publicly. A government which spends money on nationalisation while cutting spending on the defence of the realm. As I promised President Carter last month, the next Conservative government will give defence the high priority that it demands. The Conservative government will see that our troops are properly paid, increase defence spending so that we meet our obligations to our allies, and by strengthening the defence of the West, restore the morale of our fighting services. Let us not forget: our first duty to freedom is to defend our own.

Today in Odesa, on the day of our Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, we express our gratitude to all our naval warriors and engage in negotiations to ensure that Ukraine’s Defense Forces, including our Navy, receive even greater capabilities. We also welcomed the new Ministers of Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, as well as the new British Secretary of State for Defence. I informed them about the situation on the battlefield, and there was a briefing from Vice Admiral Neizhpapa, the Ukrainian Navy Commander. We will continue to strengthen the Ukrainian fleet together with the UK and the Netherlands. There are promising new developments in our cooperation. We also discussed strengthening our air defense systems, which remains an absolute priority, and I am grateful for the willingness to take the next steps, particularly regarding the F-16s.

#WATCH | Delhi | On India AI Impact Summit, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says, "... These first couple of days have gone extremely well. There have been some glitches, but these things happen in a large event. What has been impressive is the attendance of Presidents, Prime Ministers, and world leaders, and they've come with a strong message of wanting to see a newly integrated world in AI development, where the impact upon society would be the Principle. Preoccupation in India has clearly led the drive in this area. As far as the French Rafale is concerned, parts of it are being manufactured in India, and that is a very important aspect of the deal because it is part of strengthening our defence, but also increasing our self-reliance in the defence sector... Defence is important for India not because we want to go to war, but because we don't want others to think that we are so weak that they can be tempted to go to war. It is a defensive defence literally, and I support the government on that."
