As a taxpayer, I've had to learn to cook from scratch, eliminate soda and sweets and more to afford to feed my family. Since I am paying for their food stamps, they are no better than my family to have to make those same sacrifices until they can afford it on their own dime.

I wasn't a big fan until I spoke with friends who are cashiers. The things SOME people buy with food stamps have nothing to do kids, health or food. We need a new system. Food stamps are supposed to be a leg-up, not a permanent allowance.

What people seem to forget is that the healthier food is much more expensive than the cheaper processed foods. This needs to change if they expect to them to eat healthier.

Stop allowing sodas and pre-made junk food. If they want to buy sugar, flour, and eggs, let them eat cake.

No reason why not. I have a Medicare Advantage Plan. They offer 82.00 a month for food or utilities. No junk food. Most grocery stores take the U-card. There is a list of nots to buy. Works great.

I was behind a woman at the grocery she had 14 12packs of soft drinks and nothing else and paid with food stamp card, so yes there should be limits and should figure out healthy snack options as well.

This is the way it used to be. How do I know? When I was in high school (early 1990s) I worked in a grocery store and if you were buying using food stamps you could not use them to buy junk food. You had to use your own money to purchase those items.

I wish it wasn't banned but maybe only a percentage of your EBT could be used on junk food because at least it will teach people to eat moderately. Like 15 or 20 percent

If you have a job and your own money, eat whatever the hell you want. If you are being given money for food from the tax payers, the tax payers should be able to tell you what you can eat.
