What’s some tech you can’t live without, so much so that you actually have backups of that tech?

Microsoft Wired Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000

I believe what should exist is backups of schematics for the tech that we love but runs the risk of being phased out. Ideally, these backups should be in a form that allows us to fabricate them using 3D printers, including their intricate parts and modules.

Have a couple of these from 20+ years ago. Still in use.

I have four MS Wired Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000s and two Aeropresses.

I own two of these, it's the heart of my analog video workflow and I would be very upset not to have one

I’ve been in tech my entire life and there’s literally not one single thing I feel this way about. I have backups for my wooden spoons and spatulas because they break every 10 years or so.

The only thing I have a backup of is my blood glucose meter. I use Libre2 device and have another in the diabetes drawer.

I can make do with whatever. I do, however, have multiple spare sets of $10 bluetooth earbuds in a drawer because when teenage offspring are without those (lost/left at Dad’s/etc.) it is a true emergency. I have started charging a deposit for “borrowing” them.

My surface duo. Its my everything.
