my husband is a groundworker, he is 60 next year. We have no idea how we are going to make it to 67 before he gets his state pension. He works in all weathers, same as you no holiday pay, no sick pay, no pay for even a bank holiday and the sites close for 2 weeks at christmas, no pay for that either (Happy Bloody Christmas) It is shit shit work and no wonder most of the men he works with are older. The young do not want to do it, and who can blame them?

@EssexgoonerMr The point of you working is to ensure that the support is there when you need it , like it was when you had cancer and were unable to work. 🙄 The vast majority of those in benefit are unwell, disabled or getting paid shit wages that need topped up by the state.

@EssexgoonerMr He's done bloody well to get back to work after Leukaemia. My hubby had it, brutal regime of chemo, 6 months in hospital and a bone marrow transplant. He's still with us, but his health never came back to 100%. Hats off to this chap.
