Lipoma excision (surgical removal of a lipoma) This is the standard surgical excision of a lipoma (a benign tumor of adipose/fatty tissue). A reply on the original post also correctly identified it as “Lipoma removal.” It is not typically called something more complex (e.g., it is not a cyst drainage alone, a hernia repair, or an abscess I&D). Lipomas are usually removed for cosmetic reasons, discomfort, or if they grow large.

These types of videos are completely misleading and have no association with real procedures and surgeries.

This seems to be cyst rather than lipoma. So it will be called a "EXCISION OF SEBACEOUS / CUTANEOUS CYST"

Why kept wound open / why not Drain placed

Lipectomy

A lipoma excision is a quick outpatient procedure, usually under local anesthesia, to remove a benign fatty lump. The surgeon cuts over the lump, removes it, and stitches the skin. The tissue is often sent to pathology to confirm it's not cancerous.. Recovery takes a few days for normal activity, 1-2 weeks before strenuous exertion. Main risks are scarring, bruising, infection, and rare recurrence. It's optional - lipomas are harmless, so removal is usually for pain, growth, or appearance..

This procedure is termed Surgical 1-) Excision of a Subcutaneous Giant Lipoma (or Surgically Assisted Lipolysis/Enucleation depending on encapsulated margins).

2-)Giant subcutaneous lipomas (>5 cm) typically require wide surgical resection or complete enucleation under local or regional anesthesia to ensure minimal recurrence risk and histological evaluation for liposarcoma exclusion.
