They are so special. We were fortunate to get them in Texas and also now here in Indiana. I could watch them all day.

On my travels one day to the bank, there was a cardinal in the middle of the road. It looked like he had gotten hit by something so I jumped out of my car and picked it up and took it home with me. I thought I would have to nurse it back to health, but by the time I got home, it was fine and it flew away, but it stayed in our backyard. We kept feeding it, peanuts and birdseed, but holding it ..it’s the softest thing you can imagine.

I have one that comes back all the time. They live to like 20 years old and are monogamous. I never had him come that close. I wish he would. Our hummingbirds come in really close.

Had a similar experience a few years ago. Walking home in the twilight on a fall day. Felt something brush past my head. Thought it was a bat going for bugs then he landed on my shoulder it turned out to be this little guy. A Zebra Finch. Named him Elmo, he lived with me for 5yrs

A Stellar’s bluejay visited our family when our daughter & family came over for her birthday. The following day the bluejay spent 6 hours with my wife and I. Our son passed just over 2 years earlier. Just one of many things our son has done for us since his passing.

In 2017 I went to visit a friend in Monroe Washington in the summer when a robin landed on my left shoulder. I ever so slowly turned to look at him. He did not flinch and stayed there when I knocked on Geromy’s door, I wanted a witness to this spectacle. After about 20 seconds he flew away to join his other bird friends on a telephone wire. This event gave me an insight of enlightenment.

What a wonderful moment.
