Today, during Juma’at prayer, we had the honour of receiving a visiting Imam from Igboland (Enugu). Before the weekly congregational prayer, he delivered an insightful lecture that resonated deeply with the congregation. This was a beautiful reminder of the unity of the Ummah across regions and ethnic lines. May Allah (SWT) reward him and us abundantly and continue to strengthen the bonds of our diverse Muslim community.

The fact that the mosque is carrying on with its weekend food drive for the general public as usual is a testament to this house of worship and the positive role it plays in supporting its neighbors of all faiths. We commend local law enforcement for working with the community to keep the community safe. We encourage all elected officials to condemn the anti-Muslim extremism that Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton and others have fomented. We urge all community members to follow the instructions of EPIC leadership and law enforcement authorities, ignore the provocations of these racist and bigoted losers and carry on with their worship and lives as usual.

BREAKING: An east London mosque, the Darul Arqam Mosque & Muslim Community Centre, has released footage of the damage to their property following a vandalism incident in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Paint was thrown across the exterior walls, doors, and windows of the mosque. The masjid is now working with police to find the vandals and establish the motive behind the attack. Mosques all across the UK are increasingly being targeted by similar acts of vandalism amid rising Islamophobia. In a statement, Darul Arqam Mosque said: “This is a deeply concerning incident, particularly as it involves a place of worship that serves the whole community. "We remain committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and peaceful environment for everyone. We kindly ask anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or has relevant information to come forward and assist. "We appreciate the continued support and unity of our community during this time.”

Today, I chose to gift a CCC councilor a new car, after he stood boldly in support of the development being championed by President E.D. Mnangagwa. Yet my heart was heavy when I heard the accusations that his home had been destroyed through political violence. I speak with conviction: President Mnangagwa does not walk the path of violence. He calls us to unity-unity in spirit, unity in purpose, unity in action. His message is one of peace and progress. And so, in that same spirit, I will rebuild the councilor’s house. Because when a home is torn down, we must raise it again. When division seeks to break us, we must answer with unity. And when fear tries to silence voices of hope, we must respond with courage and compassion. This is the Zimbabwe we believe in-where peace triumphs over conflict, and where unity builds what violence seeks to destroy.

In one of the darkest weeks of our nation, I’ve never been more proud of how Christians responded. After Charlie Kirk was assassinated, there were no riots. No looting. No cities burned to the ground. Instead, we turned to prayer. We prayed for his soul, and we lifted one another up in the name of Jesus. That is the kind of response our Lord calls us to. Not violence. Not vengeance. But faith. And because of that faith, we will be steadfast in the face of the wicked. We will stand firm, knowing that Jesus is with us, and we will be rewarded for trusting in Him.

It's with a heavy heart I'm here in Damascus at the Mar Elias Church, the site of a suicide bomber on June 22, who came in this entrance, shot several people, and then killed himself right here with a bomb that killed 30 and wounded over 50. This was the first attack in decades in Damascus, so it shook the Christian community here and throughout Syria. But it also united the Syrians against these kinds of terrorist attacks. In fact, I was surprised to learn from the priests here that a majority of the people that came in to clean up the day after the bombing were actually the Muslim neighbors, along with the Christian neighbors. And when they collected donations for the families and church, a majority (85%) of them were from the Muslim community. This shows that while there are sectarian divisions in Syria caused by decades of brutal Assad rule that was meant to divide these religious communities, there's a desire to live in peace together. And the way the community responded to this horrific attack just shows that there's hope for Syria. Please pray for Syria, pray for the Christians still recovering from this horrific attack in the neighborhood, and for all the people of Syria - Sunni, Christian, Arab, Kurd, Alawite, Yazidi, Druze, and others that mostly want to live together in peace in an inclusive Syria.
