In a recent interview, Howard Stern asked celebrated singer-songwriter Paul Simon a deeply personal question: “Is there a God? Because I need to know. I’m getting older. Is this it for me? Am I going to die, and that’s it? Or am I going somewhere?” Then Howard added, “Please answer this in a serious manner.” That’s a really important question—one that everyone should eventually ask. And I want to give an answer. Not my answer, because my personal opinion isn’t any more or less important than anyone else’s. And I always think the question, ‘do you believe in God?‘ is such a strange one because to me, God is the ultimate reality — the ground of our being. I think the question people are asking when they ask that is, ‘do you believe in love’? And love to me is the most powerful thing in the universe.
