*Loosely inspired by real life events* Hospital visits due to ingestion of wire bristles from BBQ cleaning brushes are an under-recognised cause of injury, with approximately 130 hospital visits in the US each year. Most injuries occur when detached wire bristles adhere to grilled food and are inadvertently swallowed. Because the bristles are thin (often 1–2 cm), sharp, and difficult to visualise on plain X-rays, diagnosis may be delayed. Clinical presentations reported in the literature include: 1. Oropharyngeal or tonsillar impaction, leading to throat pain or problems swallowing. 2. Hypopharyngeal or oesophageal penetration. 3. Migration into soft tissues of the neck with abscess formation. 4. GI perforation involving the oesophagus, stomach or small bowel. 5. Well this post is pretty extraordinary! Prepare for your hearts to melt 🥰 You may remember Pearl, one of the five white rommies we rescued in 2023. All of her friends moved forwards in time but Pearl was unable to make much progress. When Rescue Wold opened we moved her up there and it has been one of the most heatwarming things to see how happy she has become. This Chistmas our dog handler Diana offered her a special foster. Pearl is used to Diana and is also friends with her girl Cherry 🐶 who sometimes comes into work with her. Diana is also mum to gorgeous Rocky so it's been two D4R adopted dogs teaching her how to live in a home. Pearl's progress has astounded us all, and we are so grateful to Diana and her family for welcoming this special girl into their home. Special fostering is one of the greatest gifts you can give to a dog that has never known home life. If you are in our area and have a secure gaden, and an abundance of patience and understanding please do fill in the foster form 💜

The hotel I recently purchased came with a restaurant. I’m about to beautify, update, renovate and improve the entire space. The entire process has been enjoyable up to this point. I appreciate all of the subcontractors and teams of ppl I’ve built over the years. All success is built on the team you assemble and work with. Everyone plays their respective role, everyone delivers on a strict timeline and it all contributes to the overall outcome and goal. I’ll start to do more posting of the process. I’ve been too busy working and forgetting to post the content I’ve gathered. It’s a lot of work to do and it’s far from over. Sebaashray was organised to ensure that their healthcare concerns were addressed with urgency and dignity. From a routine check-up at the Sebaashray camp to specialised care beyond it, Aarti Bera’s journey reflects what this initiative truly stands for. Identified at the Nandigram Block 2 camp as requiring advanced treatment, she was carefully referred and has now successfully undergone laser surgery for her eyes, completely free of cost. From the camps in Nandigram Block 1 and Block 2, several others who needed further eye care were supported every step of the way. Six residents from Block 1 and eight from Block 2 have since completed cataract surgeries at Kalyani Eye Care, without bearing any financial burden. When I see citizens regain their vision and return to their daily lives with confidence, it reminds me why we continue this work.

In reality, most physicians who work in private hospitals have signed medical bylaws or contracts that restrict what they are allowed to say publicly. Those policies often limit speaking out on social media or criticizing hospital conditions, even when concerns are related to patient safety. Violating them can mean being called before a medical executive committee or losing hospital privileges altogether. I am sharing this because over the past year, hundreds of physicians have told me to keep speaking up because they cannot. Patients deserve to understand the systems doctors work within and why silence is sometimes enforced, not chosen.
