On Friday, Bill Maher asked me if what happened with Biden at the disastrous debate with Trump was the same story as the Emperor's New Clothes. Me: The story of the Emperor's New Clothes is a story about common knowledge, because when the kid blurted it out, he actually wasn't telling anyone anything they didn't already know. They could see the Emperor was naked. But he still changed their knowledge, because by blurting it out with an earshot of the others, now everyone knew that everyone else knew that everyone else knew that everyone else knew. And what that allowed them to do is change their relationship with the Emperor, from obsequious deference to ridicule and scorn. And the thing about common knowledge in the social realm is that it's what props up our social relationships. And so when something is blurted out, then it can change everything. It changes the nature of your relationship with someone. Maher: And we do have sort of a modern version of the Emperor parable, which is Joe Biden. I mean, he was the Emperor who everyone wouldn't say had lost his marbles. I mean, is that not really the same story? Me: It is the same story, because opinion polls showed that after that disastrous debate with Trump, the number of people who thought that he was cognitively impaired didn't go up by that much. One of my favorite things about data science is that you're constantly asking: **"What assumption is everyone making?"** Last week, China's new **Kimi K3** model got a lot of attention. Not because it's definitively the best AI model in the world—but because it raises an interesting possibility: **What if frontier AI is becoming cheaper, faster than investors expect?** If that's true, AI doesn't become less important. It becomes **less scarce.** And history says markets don't move because everyone suddenly becomes pessimistic. They move when one of the assumptions everyone agreed on starts to change. I don't know if that's what's happening here. But I do think it's the more interesting question. Curious to hear your thoughts.

🦦 there is something i really wanted to say to onedoor when i went on live. whatever it is you are doing right now, and whatever effort you are putting into it, even if it doesn't show right away and people don't acknowledge it, i really hope you don't let it get to you too much. as long as you know, that's what matters. you know your own worth. and eventually, as all that hard work builds up over time, everyone else will start to notice it too. 🦦 i know this might sound hard to believe, but look at my dancing. my style isn't the type that instantly grabs attention, you know? since i have a smaller frame compared to the other members, i don't naturally pop or stand out right away. but if you keep watching.. somehow, i'm the only one you see. you know what i mean? 🦦 in the end, the day will absolutely come when people recognize your hard work. your dedication will be the only thing that shines through, and all those quiet moments you have built up until now will finally show. 🦦 and if you ever struggle to see your own hard work, I WILL recognize it for you. If you don't know what a RAG system is, you're already behind. Plenty of people are still typing questions into ChatGPT and pasting answers back out. That's the beginner level. Musk: “The honest answer for AI and robotics is long term working will be optional.” Long term meaning ten years from now or less. For centuries, human survival has required human labor.
