#WATCH | Lucknow: On preparations for the Kanwar Yatra, UP Minister AK Sharma says, "... This one month is like a celebration throughout the country... We are ensuring that there are no potholes on the roads, especially in cities along the Kanwar route... We are making sure all manholes and drains are properly covered to avoid any unforeseen accidents at night. Arrangements for separate restrooms for men and women have been made along the Kanwar route... Arrangements for meals of Kanwar Yatris are also being made... We are making sure the facilities are better than last year's... Street lights are being installed throughout the Kanwar route... One thing we have learnt from Muharram tazia processions is that we will ask Kanwar yatris not to make very high DJ setups to avoid coming in contact with high tension power lines..."

Over the weekend, I visited a friend in Dzivarasekwa (DZ) Extension in Harare & this is how the road looks like. Poignantly, the roads that used to be tarred & paved are now dust roads. Lakes have emerged in the midst of the roads. As motorists, when we are driving in the Ghettos of Harare, we are no longer driving on the left side of the road, but we are now driving on what's left of the road, that is if there is still anything left of the road at all. This Muslim woman is arguing that she will offer Namaz on road. Muslims of Indian subcontinent have different level of entitlement. They think road belongs to them. Offering namaz on public roads, highways, or streets is strictly banned in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and many other muslim countries. If Indian Govt asks muslims to not offer Namaz on road, it becomes Islamophobia.

This dangerous mindset is spreading into Kerala too.🚨🚨 At Palakkad’s busy IMA Junction, traffic was brought to a halt because a MUSLIM woman chose the middle of the road to offer namaz. Public roads are not personal prayer halls. Faith cannot override law, safety, or the rights of thousands stuck on the road.
