When citizens have to protest for basic roads in the world’s 6th-largest tech city, Bengaluru, something is seriously wrong with India and its polity, which keeps taking its revenue-generating engine for a ride. Dear DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah sirs, you hold the CM post for now, it’s time to...

Buy a Boat, Not a Bike: Bengaluru’s New Monsoon Survival Kit Under D.K. Shivakumar Is this the “Brand Bengaluru” we were promised? The monsoon hasn’t even arrived in full force, yet Bengaluru is already drowning. Roads across the city are waterlogged, resembling rivers more than streets. Vehicles—cars, bikes, and autos are stuck or submerged, and the entire city has come to a standstill after just a few spells of rain. If this is the condition before the monsoon has properly begun, what should citizens expect in the coming weeks? Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS has completely failed in its basic responsibility of maintaining the city’s infrastructure. Drainage systems are either clogged or non-functional, roads are crumbling, and sanitation is in shambles. Instead of preparing the city for rains, it seems the BBMP has turned a blind eye to the worsening condition of Bengaluru. And what is DK Shivakumar doing? As Deputy CM and the face of the “Brand Bengaluru” campaign, shouldn’t he be taking accountability? Or is the campaign just another PR stunt while citizens suffer on a daily basis? Should Bengaluru’s citizens now buy boats to navigate through flooded streets? Is this the future of urban mobility in a so-called tech capital? It's high time strict action is taken. DK Shivakumar must stop making announcements and start delivering results. He must hold Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike accountable, initiate immediate emergency reforms, and ensure that the administration is made to remember its actual duties serving the people, not ignoring them. #bengaluru #bangalore #BengaluruRains #bangalorerains Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike DK Shivakumar ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್‌ BengaluruCityPolice ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಸಂಚಾರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ BengaluruTrafficPolice CP Bengaluru ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಆಯುಕ್ತ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು Joint CP, Traffic, Bengaluru alok kumar DGP KARNATAKA S. Bengaluru residents took to the streets today in a rather unique form of protest, demanding something as basic as better roads yes, roads, the very thing one might assume is a given in a so-called "world-class city." Their demand is simple and fair: if citizens are paying hefty taxes year after year, why is the government failing so miserably at providing proper infrastructure in return? Despite countless complaints, requests, and social media outcries, the condition of the roads remains abysmal full of potholes, uneven surfaces, and crumbling edges. And while citizens continue to dodge craters like they’re in a video game, the Brand Bengaluru minister DK Shivakumar and the Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS appear to be in a deep slumber. It's almost impressive how consistently they’ve managed to ignore public concern. One might even suspect they’re aiming for a record The irony is hard to miss while the government is busy painting a glossy picture of "Brand Bengaluru" for the outside world, the actual city seems to be stuck in the 1960s, if not earlier. Is that what "Brand Bengaluru" stands for? Romanticizing a time when decent roads and proper urban planning were still a fantasy? The citizens are fed up. They're tired of flashy PR campaigns and hollow promises. Bengaluru doesn’t need more slogans or hashtags it needs roads that don’t turn into swimming pools after five minutes of rain. It needs infrastructure that doesn't crumble faster than the patience of its people. So, to the authorities: maybe it’s time to wake up, step outside the AC offices, take a good look at the chaos, and start treating the citizens with the respect they deserve. After all, "Brand Bengaluru" can't just be a shiny poster it has to be real, and it has to start with the ground beneath our feet #bangalore #bengaluru #bbmp Maheshwar Rao.M, IAS DK Shivakumar Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Joint CP, Traffic, Bengaluru DGP KARNATAKA alok kumar S.
