We were elected to serve the citizens, not to serve ourselves. ​In this video, I address the proposed 2-year extension. While some MPs might be looking forward to how they can personally benefit from this, we have to ask ourselves, are we in Parliament to represent the people or ourselves? ​My biggest fear is the dangerous precedent this proposed amendment sets. If we treat our Constitution as a document we can easily alter for short-term convenience, we leave it entirely vulnerable. If we open the door to change it today, what stops the next group from coming in and changing it to 20 years tomorrow? We must protect the integrity of our laws. According to Martin Scorsese, when Roger Corman hired him to direct "Boxcar Bertha" (1972), he gave Scorsese the script and said, "Read the script, rewrite as much as you want, but remember, Marty, that you must have some n*d!ty at least every fifteen pages. Not complete n*d!ty, maybe a little off the shoulder, or some leg, just to keep the audience interest up.’" When Roger Corman was asked about it, he answered jokingly, "That's close, I think. The statement is almost correct. Needless to say we talked a little bit more than that and I didn't say every 15 pages. I think I said two or three times in the picture. [Laughs again.] He, possibly on his own decided to do it every 15 pages, but I don't particularly remember saying that. He may be remembering the film being a little racier than it was.
