Jane remembered how her father, Henry Fonda, would literally run away when fans approached him for an autograph. To him, fame seemed like an intrusion. Then Jane spent 10 days traveling with Dolly Parton. And everywhere they went, Dolly showed up looking exactly like the Dolly her fans came to see wig, outfit, everything. She didn’t treat those people like an inconvenience. She genuinely appreciated them. That completely changed Jane’s perspective. Dolly never sat her down and explained the lesson.
