When even the AC needs some help cooling off 🥵

lol, that umbrella isn’t doing a thing. The temp of the air passing through the coil is still the same. You’re better off opening it up and making sure the coil is clean so it’s getting good airflow. Maintaining the equipment is the best thing you can do for it

Not helping. It's just recirculating the hot air from the condenser back through the unit and making it work harder. Best solution, regular maintenance. On really hot days, a garden hose with a light spray covering as much of the sides as it can helps a lot.

that's trapping air that the thing is trying to expel from the top. i saw this thing on kickstarter, which at least wont trap air at the top. *no, i dont have this. i think cleaning the coils would help more.

They need to plant some trees. It wouldn’t help right away, but would pay off later.

That's just gonna keep the hot air it's blowing under the tent.

Um, my HVAC husband said that's dumb. It serves no purpose. Potentially making it hotter.

You would be better off spraying a light amount of cool water on the condenser.

Hey, we all love the trapped heat under the umbrella. Try again.

Good idea...and a better idea would be a sprinkler nozzle on a fine mist near the condensor coil

Might work better if your condenser fan was spinning faster

Legit. I put reflective foamboard up around my AC.

I just oversize the system a bit...

I mean maybe if we planted more trees we would have cooler surface temperatures but nah just keep cutting it all down to make big open properties and parking lots that give off nothing but heat .😅🤣 We’re not Retarded .🥴

Needs to be higher so the unit can breathe

Huh? That is not what you do. If anything that will block airflow. See that shroud? Its only a cover and its not your AC compressor. Your compressor is inside already in the shade with a fan blowing on it 🤦♂️🤦♀️🤦

You might be recirculating hot air with the umbrella over it.

I don't believe this makes any difference My HVAC is on my roof. In AZ. It's 100°+ for 100+ days a year When it's that hot out you have to turn your thermostat temp up to like 78 or 79 during the day so the unit isn't running 24/7. That's actually how you help your HVAC survive

It’s better to run a mist system with a filter against hard water… Still might ruin your coils Clean the condenser, clean your ac line, change your AC filter, clean your air handler etc

Lol so high 30’s early 40’s? We call that a normal summers day in Australia

If shading or spritzing with water worked, manufacturers would sell those products as add-ons. Stop doing stupid things.

Let's trap the hot air coming from the top fan of the unit by an umbrella that redirects that hot air right back into the coils lol 👌 🙌

Fix the damn disconnect

I live in Phoenix where AC runs 9 months out of the year. and I can tell you right now that stupid umbrella ain't helping anything.

Too many idiots in the world

clean the coil, check for leaks, recharge the Freon. the temp being emitted by the coil should be higher than 100F as the outside is the hot exhaust of the heat exchanger. otherwise the blower fan may be bad.

Smart

Looks like smart decision making to me. 🟢👍

This totally works! Even better would be to MOVE the outside part to the shaded part of the house… like the north side . If that’s not possible build a shade fence or pergola with open airflow. D.

When 16°C still feels like warm air... we’ve officially lost

It's not going to hurt it and may increase efficiency by 1 to 3%. That's ~$15/mo in CA where electric bills run $500 or more.

Really bad idea, this could reduce heat transfer to the air by restricting airflow. Don't do it!

Lol, don't do that... that lady is a goofball.
