On November 28th, SPD Bike officers patrolling downtown observed a suspect openly smoking marijuana. After speaking with the suspect and during a search of his belongings, officers located a loaded firearm. Officers searched a second individual associated with the suspect and located another loaded firearm and marijuana. A third associated suspect was also later arrested after officers were able to trace the trio back to a nearby vehicle where additional quantities of marijuana and drug paraphernalia indicative of sales activity was located. All three suspects, 19-year-old Amaru Rages of Sacramento, 21-year-old Capazjin Stroman of Sacramento, and 26-year-old Tylor Hampton were arrested for multiple drug and firearm charges. A big thank you to our Bike officers, congratulations on a job well done! #Sacramento #Police

Here is another snippet of my conversation with Ryan James Girdusky. There is a societal cost to enforcing the law and that cost is paid by society through danger to both our law enforcement officers and our civilians. This cost is an inevitability built it to the reality of enforcement and human nature. But America’s officers are very well trained and considering the size of our country and the number of officers or civilians lost during enforcement — we’re very successful at keeping this cost to a minimum. American law enforcement leaders are dedicated to a constant and continuing effort to minimize risks to both officers and civilians. Every life lost in an enforcement operation becomes a learning experience for officers throughout the country. Our law enforcement leaders have done a tremendous job developing training and strategies that have rendered use-of-force tragedies into anomalies. Americans should be very proud of where we are today as far as training of our officers.

Officers Clayton McWilliams and Victoria Jackson responded to the scene immediately, raced to the child and quickly worked to clear the baby's airway. Thankfully, those efforts proved successful, and the child began breathing normally within seconds of officer arrival. We are grateful to Officer McWilliams and Jackson for their decisive actions and composure when it mattered most.
