Behind the scenes of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007), Michael Chiklis filmed a scene in full Thing prosthetics alongside a real trained Kodiak bear. Animal trainers were present, and safety protocols were used — CGI wasn’t used for the bear in that sequence.

Disney used CGI instead of hiring real actors because they were scared of offending real dwarfs. It backfired.

For Interstellar (2014) Christopher Nolan planted a real 500-acre cornfield instead of using CGI. When the shoot was over, they sold the entire harvest and made money back.
