The Omaha Police Dept has launched its newest public safety initiative: Drones as First Responders (DFR). “Innovation is at the heart of effective policing," said Chief Todd Schmaderer. "Our new Drones as First Responders program enhances officer safety, improves response times, and provides a powerful new perspective during emergencies, benefiting both our officers and the community we serve. With this program, we are setting a new standard for emergency response”.

A tanker loaded with diesel fell on top of Liverpool Bridge inward Mile 2. The tanker sustained damage, leading to the spillage of diesel across the bridge and on the road beneath. Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other relevant agencies, are already on ground and have successfully contained the situation to prevent escalation. We urge members of the public to exercise restraint, caution, and civic responsibility. Approaching the scene, attempting to scoop fuel, or obstructing emergency operations puts lives at serious risk. Public safety must come first. Our agencies will continue to manage the situation and ensure the area is secured. Cooperation from residents and road users is critical at this time.

It’s been a challenging day, especially here along I-70 near exit 252 in Salina. If you can, stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. Roads are slick, and safety is our top priority—for you and for those responding to emergencies. If I weren’t out here, I’d be staying warm and enjoying a bowl of chili. 🥣 What about you? #KSwx
