Director Basu Bhattacharya was a very close friend of Gulzar's. Their friendship dated back to their days as assistants to Bimal Roy. It was Subhash Mukhopadhyay's Bengali poems that brought them closer, forging a lifelong bond. Basu Bhattacharya was an excellent cook, and Gulzar was particularly fond of Bengali cuisine. One day, Basu da called Gulzar, inviting him over for lunch. Enthused by the prospect of savoring Basu da's culinary expertise, Gulzar arrived promptly, only to discover that Basu da was preparing for a new film, 𝘎𝘳𝘪𝘩𝘢 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘩 and wanted Gulzar to appear in a song. Gulzar was livid at the prospect of being on screen and refused outright. However, Basu da was adamant, threatening to withhold lunch if Gulzar didn't agree. In the end, Gulzar relented, unable to resist the allure of Basu da's cooking. Today, Gulzar Sahab is celebrating his 91st birthday. Here's wishing he continues to enchant us with his poetic genius for years to come. Happy Birthday Sir #gulzarsahab Ref : Actually.. I met them( Gulzar)
