"It's Gham, not Gum" 😂 Anurag Kashyap shares a hilarious incident from the making of iconic movie "Satya" Gulzar was writing the lyrics for 'Kallu mama' song & the actual lyrics were 'Gham ke niche bomb laga ke gham uda de' which were later changed to 'goli maar bheje me' by Gulzar himself. Vishal Bharadwaj & Ram Gopal Verma wanted to stick with the earlier version but they didn't have courage to ask Gulzar, so they sent then 22 years old Anurag Kashyap for saying it to Gulzar. And when Anurag went, Gulzar sahab cooked him with just one line. 😂

Meeting Pancham This heartwarming story was shared by my dear friend, singer Udbhav Ojha, a lifelong admirer of R.D. Burman. Ever since his childhood, Udbhav had been a devoted fan of Pancham da. When he moved to Mumbai in the early 1990s, his biggest dream was to sing for the maestro. Driven by that dream, he would go every day to Panchamda’s house and stand outside, hoping for a glimpse of him, perhaps even a chance meeting. This continued for a month. The guard never let him in.. So he would just stand for hours, watching the house, watching #Panchamda step out and return. One day, however, two policemen picked him up and took him to the nearby police station. There had been a theft at Panchamda’s house, and Udbhav’s repeated presence had raised suspicion. The watchman and a servant had reported him as a possible suspect. A Marathi inspector questioned Udbhav, suspecting his motive. At that time still in his late teens, Udbhav broke down and began to cry. Something moved the inspector, who realized this boy wasn't a thief. Udbhav told him, he came to Mumbai to become a singer . The inspector then asked him to hum a few songs. After hearing him, the inspector released him. Shaken and disheartened, not just by the accusation but by the feeling that even Panchamda might have misunderstood him, Udbhav considered leaving Mumbai. Still, something pulled him back to the same lane one last time. And there, the watchman recognized him. “Panchamda wants to see you!” he told with some excitement. Someone had briefed Panchamda about the incident, and he now realized a struggling young singer had been falsely accused. Udbhav was invited in. He finally met Pancham da, spent time with his entire team, and Panchamda listened the entire kissa, asked Udbhav to sing and even asked to play sitar. Panchamda smiled and said, “You’re still very young to be a singer, but keep visiting and feel free to come here.” Over the next year or so, Udbhav remained closely associated with Panchamda in various capacities. He even became a dubbing singer for a few tracks. One of the songs he dubbed was the beautiful “Hum na samjhe the baat itni si” - Destiny You Know.. Born Sampuran Singh Kalra in 1934, Gulzar overcame childhood struggles and the trauma of Partition to pursue his love for poetry in Bombay. Police knocked on the wrong door in the middle of the night at the Mississippi home of Ismael Lopez. When he opened the door, his dog ran out. They shot and killed it. He was holding a rifle. They told him to put it down. He turned around to put it down and they shot him in the back of the head and killed him. The officer was not prosecuted. And today a Mississippi jury rejected his wife's civil suit, stating that they did not feel the officer used "excessive force."

Very very strong” “It would come from the fact he’s worked with a number of teams up and down the grid but is also work ethic that goes hand in hand with that” “Within the first few months.. he was back in Grove at 8:30am before I turned up.. and he already had 15 aerodynamicists around him working through the details of it all” “What I imply is that he left Monaco probably at 5 in order to be able to do that, but it was important to him to link out world to his world and produce a car that is faster in the future” ✨

I remember when I was young, around 10-11 years old. My parents were both asleep as was my brother. I heard a knock on the back door which was weird because who uses the back door at a stranger’s house? The kitchen window was close by so I take a look. It looked like a teenager but hard to tell because they had a hoodie with the hood up. I didn’t open the door but I did crack the window and asked them what they wanted. They replied they were lost and wanted to come in to warm up and use the phone. Even when it’s daylight I know never to let anybody in period that I didn’t know, but a stranger after midnight was weird enough. I said no because I didn’t know them. Then they said that hey knew my dad and that’s why he came by. I said that’s fine and all but I’m not letting you use our phone. This was before cellphones were widely used, we had a landline like most people. The person wouldn’t take no for an answer and I could sense he was getting angry. I went and woke up my dad, I told him there was somebody at the back door and that he said they knew him. He walked to the door and looked out and said he didn’t know him. But he did talk through the door and told him that he was calling the police and that he should just leave. The person just stood there until the police finally came and even they asked him what he was doing knocking on the door at that hour. He told them he was lost and thought this was a house of a family friend. The police told him my dad didn’t know him and made him leave. So was this a case of wrong house or was he up to something. It makes me still wonder to this day but I’m still glad I never opened the door.

It turned out there was another dog on the side of the road that had been hit by a car. The girl tried to lift the injured Matthew (as she called him), but he had multiple fractures. After a visit to the hospital, where he was put in a cast, a little friend waited for him in the car. Matthew, who survived the accident, immediately wagged his tail.

I was listening to a sermon recently from one of my favorite teachers, Tim Keller, who sadly passed from this earth earlier this year. He was talking about the power and meaning of the words “Peace On Earth”. I was deeply encouraged and challenged to consider the significance of those words, particularly what they meant when announced by the angels 2000 years ago, and what they mean to us in 2023. As I was reflecting on all of that in light of what’s happening in my life personally with family and friends as well as in the world as a whole, I started thinking about a song I wrote a few years ago with my friend Tom Douglas called “A Desperate Benediction (Peace on Earth)” and suddenly found myself rewriting some of the words of this song, specifically related to right now...Christmas 2023. I’m not even sure as a songwriter what the rules are on this kind of a thing, but I felt strongly that I wanted to share it with you…So here you go. Peace on Earth, Christmas 2023.

Everyone remembers the Bronco on the freeway… fewer remember the teenager who made history by nabbing the Night Stalker. The Teen Who Helped Catch the Night Stalker A lot of people know how the Night Stalker was finally caught… but almost no one knows about the 13-year-old in Mission Viejo who cracked the case first. One late summer night in 1985, James Romero Jr. was fixing his bike when he spotted a suspicious guy creeping through the neighborhood. Instead of brushing it off, he memorized the car, caught part of the plate, and told his dad. That tiny detail became the first real break in the entire investigation—linking Ramirez to a stolen Toyota and giving detectives the lead that finally put his name and face out to the world. Two days later, the Night Stalker wasn’t a mystery anymore. A teenager tipped the first domino. And when Ramirez tried to flee after seeing his face on every front page, it was everyday citizens in East L.A. who recognized him, chased him down, beat him back when he tried to steal a car, and held him until police arrived. A whole community delivered the final blow.

This young man was handwashing his car since there was no line here. He does it all the time. The cars we see are for the automatic car wash. Anyways he already paid once and got water in the bucket so he could hand wash, after he did that he was preparing to put more money in so he could rinse. An employee comes up and takes the money out of his hand and pushes him and tells him to leave. Claiming Hess making others wait yet we see nobody there waiting. Would you have left too? The cops came and heard him out but since the employee wanted him to never come back, he was asked to respect that. I used to do this all the time especially when traveling. Sometimes I like doing it in the winter because of all the salt and such, I don’t want it damaging my paint. One time I decided to do this at about 2 in the morning on the way to the gym. Obviously there was nobody there and there is usually an officer parked in the parking lot because there used to be reports of people parking back there in the dark sleeping and doing other stuff. I was in the middle of my hand wash when a homeless man literally climbed from behind the dumpster nearby and asked why I was being noisy. I told him I was only washing my car and I was allowed to as it was a 24 hr spot and h paid after all. He started being unreasonable and I flagged the officer behind me, it took him about 30 seconds to notice and he pulled up and I explained what was going on. He said he figured that’s what I was doing since he often saw me doing it before. He did tell the homeless man to leave, and he did without incident. I was able to finish rinsing and drying my car and I left. I don’t live in a bad area, so I don’t feel unsafe doing this, have you ever had an issue washing the car at night? Night time is so much better, quieter and less busy.
