When humanity stepped beyond Earth on July 20, 1969, a Hasselblad camera became part of that defining moment. Engineered to endure the harsh conditions of space, the Hasselblad Data Camera documented the Apollo missions with uncompromising precision, capturing the first moments of human presence on the Moon. One of the most inspiring moments in human history NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong’s words echoed across the world #OTD in 1969 as he became the first person to set foot on the surface of the Moon. The culmination of years of united effort, the Apollo 11 Moon landing remains a testament to our capacity to do hard things.

The Moon, revealed through its geology. 🌗 Explore the Unified Geologic Map of the Moon! Created by USGS Astrogeology, in collaboration with NASA and other partners, this first-ever comprehensive map reveals the Moon’s entire surface geology, combining Apollo-era data with recent satellite missions. It not only shows the 4.5-billion-year history of our lunar neighbor, but also serves as a key tool for future human missions and an invaluable resource for scientists, educators, and space enthusiasts. From Earth to the Moon and beyond, exploration is stronger when nations move forward together. On Monday, we welcome Oman to the Artemis Accords. 🇴🇲 Together, we’re laying the foundation for a sustained human presence on the Moon and the historic missions that follow.

🇨🇳 The DJI store in China is called DJI Hasselblad "Hasselblad was a Swedish manufacturer of medium format cameras, photographic equipment and image scanners based in Gothenburg, Sweden" They made the cameras used to fill the 🌖 Moon landing and lots of Hollywood movies Anyway from 2015-2017 drone and camera maker DJI bought Hasselblad And now they use that name in China (and in the London store I checked) Another example is Volvo which was bought by Geely, a Chinese car producer It's kinda similar to what happened in the 1980s with many American brands being bought up the Japanese like 7/11, Columbia Pictures, etc

The near impossible is becoming possible. We are building toward a sustained human presence at the lunar South Pole. It begins with Phase 1: CLPS landers and LTV rovers testing the “science of survival” on the lunar surface before heavy HLS cargo landers deliver the mass and infrastructure needed for an enduring presence. We are building the Moon Base for all we will learn, the innovation that will improve life on Earth, the inspiration for the next generation of explorers, and to master the skills needed for where we will inevitably go next...Mars. The Golden Age of lunar exploration has begun.

Artemis II flightpath vs Apollo flightpath Apparently, NASA made this trip six times to the moon and back between 1969 - 1972 - each time they dropped ‘Astronauts’ off on the moon surface, then picked them up again and returned to earth. Or before the Advent of Colour TV’s, mobile phones, and the Internet.

We mourn the passing of astronaut Bill Anders, lunar module pilot for Apollo 8, and backup pilot for the Gemini XI and Apollo 11 flights. One of the first three people to travel beyond the reach of our Earth and orbit the Moon, Anders took the legendary Earthrise photo. More on his legacy:

On this day in 1972, NASA astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt lifted off from the surface of the Moon onboard Apollo lunar module Challenger's ascent stage, docking to Apollo command and service module America, piloted by Ronald Evans, approximately two hours later. No humans have visited the Moon since then, 52 years ago. The Apollo 17 Command Module is on display at Space Center Houston. The video was taken using a camera on the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), and was remotely controlled from Earth.
