It’s as mad as a box of frogs John. If I were Irish I’d be livid. The Irish Gov want civil unrest, clearly. The Republic of Ireland has been a member of the European Union since 1st January 1973. Governed under administrative law from Brussels.. i.e. You’ll do as you’re dam well told, with their 400+ page constitution.. Less we also not forget about those leaders this week that signed an agreement to push for independence from UK. Scotland, Wales and NI. leaders that all want to be a part of the big commie club too. Canada now an associate member 🤯. Already Carnie is agreeing to open borders and generally fk’ing the Canadian ppl over. The lunatics are clearly running the asylum imho. make it make sense! Up next New Zealand and Australia to join the EU. It is all utter madness and it seems to me like we are already past the point of no return. Prepare and be prepared mentally. Non-citizens can vote in Irish local elections. You do not need Irish citizenship. Anyone who is 18+, ordinarily resident in the local electoral area, and on the Register of Electors can vote for city/county councillors. This includes non-EU nationals, people with refugee status, and asylum seekers whose cases have not yet been decided. It's worse than you think

How in the world could someone that had only been there 15 days be able to vote in local elections???? They would be completely illiterate about that local area and its people. Not a good idea if you care about your country. Local is where it starts.
@boot15_vu Sadly, it is quite likely that this policy will be implemented by Labour here in the UK before the next GE. If that fails they’ll declare war on Russia to postpone the elections for at least 5-7 years, then just try again!

Not only can asylum seekers vote in local elections in Ireland after a few days, but asylum seekers can RUN in locals Not only do Govt funded NGOs run campaigns to activate migrant voting, but Govt funded media promote the campaigns like its totally normal

I'm Irish and we are very angry. They even sent mini buses to migrant centers and brought them to vote in the last local election. To be honest it's the only way a lot of them get a vote. I think it's being challenged in the court but the corruption is so rife.....
