When I interviewed Cozell McQueen in 2023, this response struck me. Now, even more, as we have lost another of the Cardiac Pack NC State Men's Basketball team. RIP Co.

@PackMensBball I met him at a Walmart in Cary. He was one of the most gracious and kindest men I ever met. I told him that him standing on the rim is one of my favorite pictures. He said, “I’m just glad I didn’t break my neck.”

@PackMensBball This is what you get when you have built a career of excellence. While obviously not a moment anyone hoped to be talking about, it's still a beautiful thing to have asked him that question three years ago, so you can share it with all who mourn today. Well done, Jeff!

In 1983 (I think- around then) my dad took me to Reynolds to see Pack play Clemson. I went down to get Derek Wittenberg’s autograph because he was on bench injured pre-game. Not knowing any better, I went out on the court to ask other players for autographs lol, Cozell saw me, recognized I was just a dumb kid not knowing what I was doing, smiled, and ushered me back off the court while comforting me and laughing. Will never forget that moment. Rest in peace my man! You made me a fan for life.

@PackMensBball I was at the Jimmy V basketball camp in 86 or so. Cozell was a counselor and I'll never forget watching him play a video game during a break. He had to spread his legs so far to get down there 😂 RIP big fella.
