Fun draft fact: Dirk Nowitzki was drafted at age 19 by the Dallas Mavericks, and he didn’t think he was ready for the NBA. Many Europeans back then would get drafted and continue playing in the Euro league, joining the NBA later or not at all. The Mavs wanted Dirk to gain confidence to play for the team, so they organized a one on one with their backup center at the time, Samaki Walker. Dirk cooked him, and at the end of the clip Samaki Walker says “He’s ready,” then the German translation takes over. Needless to say the plan worked, Dirk thought he was ready so he began his NBA career that year. What if this one on one never happens? What if Dirk never came over? 🤔🤔🤔

Yaxel Lendeborg missed three years of High School ball because of academic struggles He worked to improve his grades and was able to JUST make a team before the season ended, and performed well enough to make it to a community college, where he then became the NJCAA’s all-time leading rebounder He then transferred to UAB, where he became one of two players in Division I history to record over 600 points, 400 rebounds and 150 assists in a single season. While many around the league don’t expect any linebackers to be drafted tonight, if there is one, it certainly could be #TexasAM’s Edgerrin Cooper. Cooper is the most complete LB in the 2024 draft class. He’s shown to be: 1️⃣an elite athlete 2️⃣a consistent and impactful run defender 3️⃣a capable and efficient blitzer, and 4️⃣able to use his size and bend to disrupt in pass protection As a run defender, he finished with an 87.6 PFF grade, highest among any expected draft linebackers in this year’s draft class. That includes 15 TFLs or no gain plays. As you can see (🎥), his downhill force plus balance and control allows him to consistently win in the run game As a pass rusher, he had 7 sacks on the year, 4 of which came from playing on the line of scrimmage. When lined up on the line of scrimmage, he generated a pressure on over 30% of his pass rush snaps. Elite ‼️ And in coverage, he finished with a top-10 coverage grade int eh country last season (per PFF College) among LBs lined up in the box. He’s able to use his length and bend, along with developed vision and timing to disrupt plays from the box. Couple all of that with a 4.51 forty time and would-be impressive athletic testing numbers if he was 100% for the draft process (why he wasn’t able to officially go every day in practice at East-West Shrine Bowl), and it’s hard to ignore his NFL starting potential. For a second he just stood there at the top of the beach, nose up, taking in all that salt air and open water like he couldn't quite believe it. Then something in him shifted. He started down toward the surf on his own, stiff and determined, the way he used to trot to the door when the kids came home from school. When the first cold wave washed over his paws, his whole face lit up. He didn't run, he couldn't, but he waded in up to his chest and stood in the shallow water with the sun going down behind him, and the whole family just watched. Nobody said much. They didn't need to. They stayed until the light was almost gone, taking pictures, letting Baxter rest against their legs, giving him one perfect afternoon to hold onto. We’ve seen guys like Judge, Stanton, Wells and others tinker with their stances to get into a better hitting position to attack strikes in the zone. When a guy like Volpe has struggled to hit consistently for his first 3 years, is constantly late on mid-velocity heaters in the middle of the zone and is constantly off-balance when he misses the off-speed stuff; you think to take a look at his pre-pitch habits especially what he’s doing with his hands and stride, and consider eliminating some of the unnecessary movements to simplify things and be ready to attack a pitch in the strike zone sooner. Volpe starts with his hands high above his head with some waggle to probably keep his hands moving and stay in rhythm, then as he strides he drops his hands into the slot while he loads, then wraps his hands behind him as he strides and keeps his weight back on his backside. That front foot needs to get down early as he gets his hands back to be ready to smoke something in the zone. Why hasn’t someone suggested dropping his hands pre-pitch in his stance to get them into the slot early, keep them back to prevent wrapping, and cut out one less moving part to get him better ready to attack pitches in the zone? He can even still have some waggle back there if he prefers to keep his hands moving. In theory if his hands are down and back already, all he needs to do is get his front foot down in time? It’s worth a try lol

I bit the bullet and set Jackson up with a driver fitting this evening. I knew he hit it far, but didn’t know any of his numbers. Spoke to the pro after the fitting who sent me this video: Fastest swing was 118 mph. Ball speeds mid 160s into the 170s He has been playing my old clubs which were stiff shafts so he was a bit wild off the tee before. Fitter fit him into a Titleist driver head with an X-stiff shaft. Got the spin rates down to the low 2000s and he said Jackson’s control with the Titleist was remarkable. I am sooooooooo screwed. I could out drive him before because I could control my spin. I figured my older head and weaker shaft was hurting him. I could watch his semi-weird swing all day long. His back swing to me, while on plane, does not look very powerful, but his lag is sooo natural and he uses his 6 foot, 210 pound frame to send it. So awesome to see him playing the game again! #NonGolfHistory

Nancy Guthrie To be clear, what is Most interesting about Porch Guy using the fresh vines he pulled to assist him with removing the Nest Camera shows his Inexperience with: 1-Wearing what appears to be double layered gloves meaning, Porch Guy did not realize how double layered gloves would affect his ability to grip and do the job at hand. He knew they would protect his DNA . He didn't know they would impede his ability to remove that camera because he had never removed a camera with gloved hand before. 2-Removing Nest cameras from mounts. If he had experience, he would have realized how difficult it would be to grip and pull from the bracket. Porch Guy planned and prepared, but this abduction was his first rodeo. Many of us in LE surmised this from the beginning based on his actions. This supports that conclusion. This isn't to say his planning didn't pay off. It did.
