Arrogant Behaviour by Passenger at Kolkata Airport In a shocking and absolutely unacceptable incident at Kolkata Airport, an Indigo ground staff member was slapped by a frustrated passenger. The passenger, enraged over flight cancellations caused by an ongoing shortage of cabin crew, chose violence instead of dealing with the situation in a civil and responsible manner.Flight disruptions are undoubtedly frustrating for everyone, but that does not give any individual the right to assault frontline staff who are simply doing their job. These employees have no control over operational challenges, yet they are the ones who face the anger, abuse, and aggression of entitled passengers. Got stuck in the IndiGo mess last night. Our 8 PM flight took off at 6 AM. After 10 long hours. Kids were crying. Old people were waiting. But, there were NO updates. The ground staff tried their best but they got all the hate. And honestly, they didn’t deserve that. IndiGo knew the delays. But instead of helping, they kept everyone waiting. We finally reached home safe… but this should not have happened. IndiGo, do better.

Despite the heartbreak and frustration, I know this: we will rebuild our city. Together, we will support those who have lost so much, stand by our first responders, and emerge stronger. In times of great adversity, Angelenos always rise to the occasion—and this time will be no different. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out, and countless Angelenos have lost their homes, businesses, and so much more. My heart breaks for all who are suffering, and I am profoundly grateful to our brave first responders. They are true heroes. At the same time, there’s undeniable frustration over reports that critical resources like water for hoses were unavailable and that brush clearance wasn’t conducted on public land. These shortcomings need to be addressed, and tough questions asked of why our leadership, including the mayor, weren’t here. The basic fundamentals of leadership start with being present.
