When people argue that #Taiwan has not done enough to support #Somaliland, I used to respond that the issue is not Taiwan’s unwillingness to help, but rather Somaliland’s limited capacity to fully utilize Taiwanese expertise and resources. That is precisely why this issue the foreign minister of #Israel discussing... is so important. Large parts of Somaliland, including the capital, suffer from chronic water shortages despite receiving ample rainfall. Water management and rainwater harvesting are therefore not just development concerns but critical national security issues. In that context, I am encouraged to see Somaliland making practical use of its relationship with Israel in this area. Somaliland does not need desalination plants or overly complex water infrastructure. What it urgently needs are well-planned dams to capture and store runoff water. Naturally, these dams must be distributed fairly across the country to ensure equitable access and long-term stability.show more

Is Dr. Omar Suleiman prepared to apologize to the people of Somaliland? The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel has made its position explicitly clear. Palestinian relocation is not on the table. There is no agreement, no plan, and no discussion involving the relocation of Gazans to Somaliland. The Israeli foreign minister has publicly clarified this, stating unambiguously that Gazan emigration to Somaliland is not part of any arrangement. If the argument was simply that Somaliland cannot engage with Israel 🇮🇱, that position immediately collapses under scrutiny. Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, Turkey, and the UAE, all Arab and Muslim-majority states, maintain diplomatic, economic, or strategic relationships with Israel. None of them are accused of facilitating population transfers or ethnic displacement. What remains, then, is not a principled stance but manufactured outrage built on misinformation. Somaliland was falsely dragged into a narrative it had no part in, for political theater and ideological posturing. At minimum, an acknowledgment of error is warranted. To the self proclaimed gate keepers of Islam, does the condemnation not extent to the Arab world or is it just reserved for Africans? For decades Somaliland has tried to secure re-recognition and every country INCLUDING Palestine who seeks the same recognition have turned their backs on Somaliland. Where was the “We’re Muslim brothers” argument then? Was Somaliland suppose to continue allowing their people to die in poverty? The reality is people are dying from TB in 2025 in Somaliland. Even with that reality Somaliland has continued to donate millions to Palestine and Palestine continues to mock Somaliland and laugh at the struggles of her people. Somaliland has donated livestock to the Khaliji countries before their oil was struck which was literally keeping them alive while the rest of the world turned their backs to them and today many of their wealthy influencers and politicians are referring to Somalilanders as “hungry stupid people”. This narrative that is being pushed regarding Palestinians being relocated to Somaliland is as it stands false. They also were suggesting relocating Palestinians to multiple other countries including Egypt and Somalia. Why has the focus only been on Somaliland for months? Palestinians belong and deserve to remain in Palestine I do not wish for Palestinians to be relocated to any country - if that obvious opinion was not clear before. For now, the re-recognition is JUST RE-RECOGNITION. I pray it acts as a critical door that could unlock investment, security, and a path towards our ultimate goal. To our diaspora: From a place of privilege living abroad, it is easy to judge. Learn the context and history to make a well-informed opinion. To our locals: Be careful of the message you portray to the outside world. Be careful of ignorance. Optics are powerful and the whole world is watching us now. What jealousy looks like, from the failed state of Somalia 👀🥲🥲 Somaliland receives recognition from Israel, and some people in Somalia, even members of their government are shouting in the streets. Women and children are crying, and when you see their faces, you can see the hatred and jealousy. Some of the words being shouted are dangerous, like “let’s attack Somaliland” and “let’s kill the elderly.” That is completely wrong and unacceptable. Meanwhile, we are focused on building our home and our future. They belief that friendship with Israel has something to do with religion. Let me be very clear, my friend: this has nothing to do with religion. It has to do with politics, cooperation, and mutual interests. We love Israel, we support Israel, and Israel is the only country that has stood by us by recognizing our country. My message to the people of Somaliland: please do not listen to hateful messages coming from Somalia’s leaders. They cannot change anything. Their anger comes from jealousy and frustration. Somaliland’s claim to sovereignty is largely based on the argument that it is different from the rest of Somalia because it was formerly a British colony. BREAKING Now it’s official by Israeli foreign ministry: Foreign Minister Gideon Saar today (Tuesday) paid his first official diplomatic visit to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, at the invitation of the President of Somaliland. The visit was conducted discreetly according to the instructions of security officials and can now be officially announced. As stated, the visit was conducted at the invitation of Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, and during which Foreign Minister Saar held meetings with President Abdirahman and senior government officials, including Foreign Minister Abdirahman Dahir Adam, Minister of the Presidency Khader Hussein Abdi, and Chief of Staff Nimsan Yusuf Osman. Minister Saar held the meetings at the official presidential palace in Hargeisa. The meetings were also attended by Parliament Speaker Yassin Haji Mohamed and Senate Speaker Sullivan Mahmoud Aden. Saar was greeted at the airport by Somaliland's Foreign Minister. Somaliland President and Foreign Minister Saar issued statements. From Foreign Minister Gideon Saar: "On December 26, Israel and Somaliland signed a historic agreement for mutual recognition and the establishment of full diplomatic relations. We agreed to mutually appoint ambassadors and open embassies and will do so soon. We agreed to work together to advance relations between the countries, for the prosperity of both. We want to build a warm friendship not only between governments - but also between peoples: the Israeli people and the people of Somaliland. Since December 26, we have seen authentic joy in Somaliland, and also in Israel. We are excited to take part in the courageous journey of the people of Somaliland from independence to recognition. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working under my guidance to build relations in many areas: economy, water, agriculture and more. It seems that the city administration was at lacks in not ensuring the safety of the drinking water. Warnings were given, but reacting after people have died is too late... There is some concern that this is disproportionately affecting people in relatively less affluent parts of the city, which is why it was not prioritised. I hope it is not true. I urge all those responsible to act urgently because having E. Coli in the water is scary and should be immediately dealt with. Expeditious action should be taken... While we are impressed with the city, we want all the people to be safe and well..."

Upon receiving complaints the city acted to switch of the flow of water as not to waste any of the drinking water. The reason for this, is that the municipal workers are currently striking thus the slow maintenance. I have come personally to make sure that the issue is fixed and that chance takers do not distort this and use it as a political scoring point. We must address the issues affecting our municipalities and as the Secretary General I have committed myself to be on the frontlines in addressing issues. I have also requested that the city communicates speedily and effectively to residents affected by this and they have assured me it is being addressed.

I'm not a pilot but I have to imagine that you have to be an absolute BADASS to skim the water in what is basically a flying tank, over and over all day long, and do it with the accuracy it takes to scoop up 1,000+ gallons of water and not have an accident. My hat is off to these pilots!!

Americans are learning our chicken is not only dunked in chlorine, but it’s legally allowed to absorb a certain percentage its weight in chemical water, “without having to be reported as water added” “Did you know that our chicken is dunked in chlorine? Did you know that unless your chicken is labeled as air chilled, that when it is killed, it is dumped in a water bath that has chemicals in it to keep the water sterile and it can absorb 12% of its weight without having to be reported as water added. So when you go and you thaw your chicken and all that water comes out, that's not just because it was in the freezer. That is because there's water added into the chicken with chlorine and other chemicals in it that absorbs into the meat of your chicken and then runs out when you thaw it, and that's why sometimes chicken feels stringy. So if you're trying to eat organic antibiotic free, you don't just need to look for an organic label. You need this. You need the air chilled. That is not chilled with any of those chemicals. (In video) I wouldn't have known any of this if I hadn't started buying my meat from a local processor. And the guy talked to me about it, and he educated me on how our meat is processed in this country. And the answer is with a lot of chemicals that they don't tell us about” FSIS regulations require labeling for any retained water above what naturally occurs in the meat. David Farley asked his first question in the House of Representatives today. In keeping with the campaign he ran and the interests of Farrer, he asked about water security. It was very deliberate that this was raised with the Defence Minister. The time has long come for us to start viewing water security as a national security issue, not an environmental issue. Well done, David. He promised to be a strong voice for Farrer, and he’s already proving that.
