I was watching that game that day.

And yet we have drunks, drug abusers, womanizer, antisemites, and some of the dirtiest players to ever play a sport in the HOF but no Pete Rose. If we were to judge most of the HOF the same way, it would look like an empty airplane hangar

He wasn’t supposed to play that day, but Steve Trout fell off his bike on the way to the ballpark and the Cubs started a righty instead of a lefty

It's a Travesty. He's not in the Hall of Fame

I've always been torn on the HoF for Charlie Hustle... Unlikely he was the only one laying a dollar down, but if he threw things other than a baseball, no. His name will undoubtedly be mentioned when talking about the sport

While the judgment of Pete Rose has been well-documented, it is worth noting that the man whose record he broke, Ty Cobb, was one the meanest human beings to play the game. If Cobb was the morale threshold, Rose would be in the Hall as a 1B, 2B, 3B, OF and manager!
