Through the length of SDXL-Turbo you can see the image forming in the activations like an object taking shape in the afternoon clouds. Like David emerging from a block of granite. At two-thirds through the model you can see the image clearly. It's spatially crisp, refined. Then in the last third of the model something strange but predictable happens: the model translates this well-formed image back into noise. By the output of the U-net, the activations are again completely uninterpretable. Why does this happen? Because we're asking the model to predict the noise rather than the clean image. This is awkward. Like Michelangelo visualizing the chips of granite surrounding the David rather than the David itself. Like asking a friend to look at a cloud and imagine not a shape, but the extra bits of cloud that when removed will leave a shape remaining.

Sound up. This video is from my bedroom this morning, side by side with a live map of all armed surveillance drones circling over Lebanon. The one I zoom in on is the one you can hear in the video. They are loud and they are low, and we never know when or who they will strike next. We are living in a hell created by billionaires profiting from the defense industry. Drones are already being tested out by some American police departments.

The Phoenix Park Ashtown Gate Junction needs a total redesign. And while this is being proposed under BusConnects, it will take some time for this to be built, and so an interim solution will soon be implemented by the local councils. Myself and Feljin Jose have been working on this in recent years and will be looking for feedback on the interim solution once it's implemented in a few weeks time. Watch this space!

Yaxel Lendeborg was by far the best player on the floor across both Sweet Sixteen games in Chicago last night. 23 PTS, 12 REB, 7 AST, 2 STL on an 83.6 TS% while finishing +20 in a win over Alabama. The 1st Team All-American does a little bit of everything at a high level on both ends, with few holes in his game. The off-the-dribble threes, point-forward playmaking, long outlet passes, and power/patience as a finisher really stood out tonight. On a late development curve, so still clearly getting much better at 23 years old.
