"Yesterday on our way home, we broke down 2 hours away from home... on a busy interstate with three kids in tow. It wasn't exactly ideal, especially with a hungry newborn. I wouldn't get the baby out of his seat to feed him incase we got smacked by another vehicle on the highway, he was the safest in his seat. We called dispatch and AAA and an Alabama State Trooper showed up to help. I thought he was just going to divert traffic away from our lane, but he did so much more than that. He loaded the kids and I in his car and got us off the highway and to the closest rest stop. Sean stayed with the car to wait for the tow truck. He checked the bathroom for 'boogieman so Madeline could use the restroom. He shot illuminating helicopters in the sky with the kids while I made calls to try to get home. Major got really fussy when I was trying to wrangle my other children and calm them down from the evening's happenings. Without hesitation, he took Major out of his seat and gave him the bottle I had prepared from earlier. It seemed like he does that every day, knew how to hold him and when to burp him. Major even filled his pants during his feeding and the trooper laughed and continued feeding him. He then helped unload all our stuff from our car to his and drove our family to the nearest hotel. It was late, nothing was open, and we couldn't get a rental car until the morning. He helped unload our unruly amount of crap into our hotel room, told us where all the rental car places were, gave the girls a hug, and told us to call if we needed anything. That my friends... is humanity." 🙏

An NRI youth died after a loaded pistol accidentally went off while he was getting up from a sofa in #Punjab’s #Fazilka district, police said. The victim has been identified as #HarpinderSingh alias Sonu, son of Darshan Singh. Station House Officer Ravindra Sharma said police recorded the statement of the victim’s father Darshan Singh and initiated action under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the police investigation, Harpinder Singh was sitting on a sofa at home with some close relatives. He had a pistol strapped around his waist. As he stood up, the loaded pistol suddenly discharged and the bullet struck him in the abdomen. Family members rushed the critically injured man to a government hospital, from where doctors referred him due to his serious condition. He died on the way while being taken to #Bathinda. Police examined CCTV footage installed at the spot, which confirmed that the firing was accidental. Harpinder Singh had recently returned from abroad and had settled in his village. He is survived by his wife and a two-year-old daughter. After receiving information about the incident, #Balluana MLA #GoldyMusafir, along with several Aam Aadmi Party (#AAP) leaders and villagers, reached the government hospital. Goldy Musafir met the bereaved family and expressed condolences. Notably, the victim’s father Darshan Singh had recently won the Panchayat Samiti elections. This is Marcus, and his accidental service dog, Gunner. Marcus served 3 deployments to Afghanistan. For years, he’s woken up at 3am, drenched in sweat, convinced he’s in back in Kandahar. Gunner came to the family when his owner passed away, which was a neighbor of Marcus. On the first night they had him, Marcus had a nightmare, and Gunner immediately jumped on his chest, and laid on him. For the first time in years, Marcus didn’t thrash, and was able to just breath, despite almost 80lbs of weight on him. Gunner laid on him for 2hrs+ that night. Marcus’s wife had urged him to get help for years. She was able to catch it on recording, to show to his counselor. The counselor told them what Gunner was doing was called “Pressure Therapy”…which is what PTSD service dogs are trained to do. Gunner never had training. He just had instincts, and an instant bond. The term, “Man’s best friend” doesn’t cut it sometimes.
