Pre-FSD, same thing happened, came around a corner on this same stretch of road, saw the deer, braked as fast I could but couldn’t prevent a collision. I felt sick. I still feel sick every time I think about it. I will never have a car without FSD again!! NEVER. Game changer. Car accidents will be a rarity. Imagine that future.

FSD sees, reacts & gives you extra response time. Those of us in the mountains slow down and are hyper-vigilant this time of year. We want to keep the “life” in our wildlife. FSD to the rescue when a Bear and the 2 deer crossed the road in front of me in just a few weeks.

💯! And stay that 10 to 15 mph slower to have more time to react. These two deer AND a bear in the last 2 weeks.

You can also see the auto headlights in action — turning down for the oncoming car and immediately back up as the oncoming car passed us.

@_SFTahoe @Tesla @elonmusk @aelluswamy FSD is super important for those that live near large wildlife populations. Car accidents from deer/elk are out of control on Southwest Colorado. Huge selling point for @Tesla @elonmusk

@_SFTahoe @Tesla @elonmusk @aelluswamy Pre FSD, this time of year, middle of the night, rounded a corner to a deer. Saw it, stopped and could not avoid it. This was even more of a blind turn BUT with FSD could stop. Completely different experience. Startle factor is real.

@Tesla @elonmusk @aelluswamy Maybe, maybe not, but having an extra 8 eyes that are 100% paying attention & the best & biggest NN working for you is that extra safety margin that goes a long way to make sure you are safe!

@Tesla @elonmusk @aelluswamy Yes, and FSD is just getting better at an exponential rate.

@Tesla @elonmusk @aelluswamy Encouraging because I saw another video that didn't go well for the deer

Speed matters. This time of year is high deer traffic time so typically am 10-15 mph slower than normal through the mountains. Clearly physics still applies — so being slightly slower provided enough time to get stopped. Think the fact the deer were walking the shoulder first also helped. FSD slowed / stayed slow as it rounded the corner.
