When Sonic Frontiers shits, it SHITS The game in a nutshell: a boring cycle of becoming a collect-a-thon to advance the story, collecting the emeralds and ending a cool boss section with Sonic getting the shit slapped out of him, losing the emeralds only to do it all over again

Ah yes empty open world with jarring platforms and rails with automated platforming where you time some button presses only. That really hit

The open world is quite bland but it's really good mindless fun just going from challenge to challenge, collectible to collectible going fast and just doing whatever. Hope they'll flesh it out in the next one if this is the direction they're going again.

I'll do you one better. Get a headset that can just copy the monitor, like a PSVR 1 or smth on top of all of this. You will ASCEND. It's a good once-in-a-blue-moon type of setup, but it genuinely feels like you're building a rollercoaster as you ride it. It's PEAK, full stop.

Too bad it requires a million different, nonsensical, noisy, ugly, scripted, camera-stealing, constantly popping in and out of existence traversal gimmicks/structures. If they made it a natural-something, Sonic interacting with the environment, things that made sense, fine.

It looks so much fun!😃
