Xenophobia: I Left South Africa Because of Physical Threats to My Life, Came To Nigeria With Nothing – Richards One of the issues that caused the divide between us and South Africans is that they could not understand how we came to their country with nothing and still managed to build wealth. They resented that we were so smart and resilient. My experience in South Africa was bad not because my business was struggling, but because of the hatred from some South Africans simply because I am Nigerian. My South African wife was even told she would be arrested for marrying a foreign national. Itoro Richard, South African Returnee

I had to revisit this video just to be sure we all watched the same thing. On average, South Africans can be quite patronising. Now, everyone is saying the minister “kicked the Nigerian journalist out.” Some say she “told her off.” What I saw was a minister struggling to steady herself, find her voice and reclaim the room. Nigeria seems to be the one name that gets some South Africans instantly rattled. 😄🇳🇬

“tomorrow there's a possibility one of you is going to be very happy and one a bit less happy. have you guys discussed that? what are the plans in place, sort of one of you doesn't bring the other one down and the other one doesn't have their nose rubbed in it?” oscar: “i don't think you need to have any discussions about things like that. one of us could win our first championship in f1. you're obviously going to celebrate that. i think we've got more than enough respect between each other to appreciate the work of the person that loses tomorrow and there's going to be nothing but respect either way. i think also whoever's on the losing side, it would be unfair to expect the person who's won to not celebrate. i don't think you need any conversations. i think we're adults and we've got enough respect between us to know what's right” lando: “yeah, oscar said it well. i think it's not a conversation that needs to be had and i think we both understand each other and are respectful enough of one another. i think we both understand that no one would do anything in a bad way or anything to make the other feel worse. i think we both respect what we do every single weekend, every quali, every race that we go out and race together. but that's the same off the track, we're two different guys but we get along and that's what we need”

The South African economy is three times that of Kenya, and they are having challenges with unemployment. It is unfortunate that those in South Africa start to believe that they are struggling because people from other countries are coming to their economy #CitizenNewsGang Sam Gituku
