Boy this is some revisionist history. He did it to boost attendance. He also traded Rip Hamilton for Jerry Stackhouse because he thought Stackhouse’s scoring could get them over the hump to make a playoff run. Need we even go into the Kwame Brown pick? His Wizards run was ego

"As the boat sailed in early February 2001 to Melbourne, Dele’s self-journey came to a crossroads. He received an e-mail from Jordan asking him to come out of retirement to play with him in Washington, D.C., with the Wizards.

Damn, I remember that player. He always looked troubled even when he played. MJ reaching out just before his ultimate fate is ironic.

MJ has always been somewhat private about his philanthropy. Goat on and off the court

Us old heads knew this story already. However. I was reading a long blog about Brian Williams (aka Bison Dele) the guy murdered in the boat with his girlfriend & skipper back in 2002. Williams played with Jordan for about 15 games at the end of the season + the playoffs in the 1997 season. In reading that blog, it stated that Jordan had emailed Brian in the spring of 2001 asking him to come play for the Wizards, which he didn't want to do. Maybe I'm off by a year. Let me know what you guys think:

This is not remotely why Jordan came out of retirement and he could have donated this money out of his own pocket at this point lmao
